4-0 out of 5 stars Family Dog - Family Favorite
The first half of this is a less than memorable Christopher Lloyd episode of Amazing Stories, which says a lot about the writing since Christopher Lloyd could make a piece of toast funny. The second half of this is the Family Dog, which is not only memorable, but classic and under appreciated. This animated half hour has excellent writing, animation, and voice talent - including Annie Potts as the mother. The hilarity of home life is in your face and leaves you wanting more. My sisters, brother, even my mother quoted it for years after seeing it, "Oh my gawd they've taken the coffee maker!" My family was very grateful when years after seeing it, I bought each of them a copy through Amazon. They love it and watch it over and over- and what makes a classic of something beyond the audiences love of returning to the material? Even though the eventual animated series it spawned lacked the same writing punch, I would highly recommend this to anyone with a love of good clean "art imitating family life" humor.

5-0 out of 5 stars It's perfect... would like it on DVD
We first watched it about 18 years ago and it's brilliant, a real gem. We watch it every couple of years now and enjoy just as much. The VHS tape (which was a copy) is almost unwatchable... would love to get the DVD.
4-0 out of 5 stars OH MY GOD!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars This was an unexpected treat!
I was flipping through channels when I ran into this movie, not knowing what the title was. After seeing Dorff's mug, I figured this was going to be another crappy movie; I never liked any of his movies... till this one. I missed the first 10 minutes but the few seconds I saw drew me in almost instantaneously. I've always thought Dorff as being typecasted as a movie "baddie" or heel. This movie absolutely redeemed Dorff's image as being a very versatile actor. The movie also had plenty of twists and side stories that kept me amused ( I enjoyed the talking cat scene); and the small narration scenes was a welcome treat due to the humor behind it. A must see! Independent films rock!... not to mention the cameo of U2 added the icing on the topping. This film will definitely be added to my library.
3-0 out of 5 stars You cant say no to a movie with Bono
Stephen Dorff (Blade, Cecil B. Demented) plays a music video director who becomes a movie director. The film he's working on is a period piece. In filming this movie he falls in love with a French model, Judith Godreche (?),and they becoming in love and their relationship blossoms. He works on the movie while she models but she thinks he's getting a little carried away on his work. Things happen like in all relationships especially if its a director or an actor and their girlfriend has a jealous fit of rage. So, Godreche goes to Europe for a shoot while Dorff stays back in the US finishing directing the picture. Godreche breaks it off with Dorff because she is seeing someone else, so Dorff is also kicked off the movie so he goes back to doing music videos for the rock band U2 (Bono, Larry, Edge). Dorff meets this a irish woman, Kelly MacDonald (Gosford Park, Finding Neverland), and desides he wants to get married to her right away. Bono of U2 who appears on a television screen tries to convince him not to but Dorff ignores Bono and the 2 love birds get married (its videotaped) in Las Vegas with Elvis playing guitar in the background. Godreche wants to get back with Dorff but Dorff is married to MacDonald...so at the U2 concert, while U2 is playing Mysterious Ways....they show Dorff's wedding video..so Godreche sees it..she runs off and also his friends tell him he's back on the movie so it's this intwinded sort of thing going on..hence the title of the movie..Entropy. Dorff is extremely good but some of it is a little cheesy but hey, what can you say with a movie that has the guys from U2 in it? Godreche as the french girl is miscast but Kelly MacDonald..the shorthair irish girl is cute as ever. Also starring Lauren Holly (Dumb and Dumber, Any Given Sunday), Jon Tenney (Buying The Cow, Fools Rush In) and Paul Guilfoyle (Tv's CSI:Las Vegas, Session 9).

4-0 out of 5 stars Stephen Hasn't Been This Hilarious Since, Candy Darling
Finally Stephen plays a role worthy of his talents. He is the perfect lead in a dramatic comedy and I love to see him in these types of roles.Entropy is a very entertaining film filled with cameos, music and even a talking cat.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars ...a powerful gangster movie
While I was reviewing State Of Grace, I was debating whether to give it 4 or 5 stars. Despite the movie's mild reception at the box office and the little credibility it gets today, I realized that it actually is a classic nontheless. First of all, the movie sparked excellent performances by the entire cast, including Sean Penn (Fast Times At Ridgemont High), Ed Harris (The Truman Show), Gary Oldman (JFK), Robin Wright (Forrest Gump), John C. Reilly (The Aviator), John Turturro (Do The Right Thing), R.D. Call (Young Guns II), and Burgess Meredith (Rocky). Secondly, the movie's storyline and script, although familiar, are epical in their own right.

5-0 out of 5 stars DVD?Hello....
Maybe someone can explain why this truely Amazing anthology is not on DVD.Given the glut of tv series that have been released, that "Amazing Stories" remains locked away is criminal.[Oddly enough, the most interesting (if short lived) tv series ever made - Level 9, First Wave, Special Unit 2, Dark Skies, Prey, Swift Justice, Strange Luck - remain in blackout.Heck, Firefly, the Lone Gunmen, and Crusade made it to DVD and they lasted no longer than a number of these equally well made shows.]It's just a shame.

I can seriously relate to the characters in the mission. My grandfather was a tailgunner during WWII. Once he was sick and unable to go on a mission. His entire crew and plane were destroyed on take-off. And where would I be? Out of existance. Steven Spielberg directs the first in a series of Amazing stories, a story about heart and survival. Kevin Costner is the captain of a crew of airmen in WWII. The Bellygunner dreams one day of drawing for Disney, and hopes as soon as the war is over, to work in the land of magic.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Film
Most likely this review will not be very helpful to anyone, but I wanted to comment on how beautifully done this film is.I am a long time U2 fan and had seen Rattle and Hum, but didn't get around to purchasing the DVD until late 2005.The fact that the music is wonderful is a given, but the cinematography is just astounding.I love how you get to see everything from every point of view. You get to see what the band sees on and around the stage, including the breathtaking sea of fans. You get to see what the fans see -- the spectacular lighting and silhouettes. You get to hear what the guys think and feel off-stage as well as on.And of course you get the passionate music. The film is as beautiful to watch as it is to listen to.I couldn't ask for more.

5-0 out of 5 stars One OfMy Fav Music DVDs
Any true U2 fan needs to have this DVD in their collection. After I viewed it the first time I check out it's price on the Amazon web site and forwhat the price was I bought 2 more copies for co-workers when I retired. From the B.B.King section where he plays his irresistable sounding Lucille to the songs of The Joshua Tree era the sound is simply wonderful !!! Such Value !!!

5-0 out of 5 stars U2 Rattle and Hum DVD
I love this movie. I can watch it over and over again and still get the chills. I wish I had been able to see U2 then, when their shows were so full of energy than now when they've really toned it down. The film is fun because you get to see not only performances, but also things behind the scenes: Larry's obsession with Elvis, and interviews where they poke fun at each other. ... Read more

Editorial Review

When he emerged from film school in the mid-1980s, director Phil Joanou was touted as the next Steven Spielberg, perhaps because Spielberg took him on as a protégé briefly. Since then, it's been "Phil who?" thanks to a series of mediocre thrillers like this one. Based on one of a series of novels by James Lee Burke about a troubled ex-cop named Dave Robicheaux, this film sat on the shelf for a couple of years before finally being released in 1995. Alec Baldwin plays Robicheaux, a recovering alcoholic who has put life on the New Orleans police department behind him--until a plane crashes in the lake next to his house. He rescues a young Central American girl from the wreck and adopts her--and winds up involved in a gumbo of drug running and dirty dealing involving an old pal named Bubba. Tip-off that this movie should have gone straight to video: Bubba is played by Eric Roberts. Redeeming feature (at least for men, who are all dogs, as everyone knows): a Teri Hatcher nude scene. Decent compilation, featuring most of their 80's classics, but what is simply unforgivable is not including the whole video stuff from 80's. 4-0 out of 5 stars Glad I took the chance
Although I have 99% of U2's music, I was never really exposed to their videos. This DVD gave me a great chance to "catch up"! My absolute favorites are "Electrical Storm" and "Discoteque" since they give us a chance to see another side of the band members personalities, especially Larry's! Kudos to him for having the courage to stand out a little bit more!
5-0 out of 5 stars All the U2 music videos you need from the 90s
It`s an amazing DVD, chuck full of U2 music videos with commentaries and alternative versions (if there are any). Most of the videos are a piece of art. A pleasure for both ears and eyes. An amazing collection. I can see only one omission: the bison version of One, although the other 2 are present, particularly my favorite one by Anton Corbijn. This fourth volume of collected episodes from Steven Spielberg's 1980santhology television series begins with some heavyweight talent. MartinScorsese directs "Mirror Mirror," arguably the most frightening andaccomplished episode from the show's entire run. Sam Waterston plays a wildly successful horror novelist who claims never to be frightened of the samescary stories that unnerve ordinary mortals. So he begins living one of his own, and terrifying it is: whenever he looks in a mirror or other reflective surface, Waterston's character sees a hideous ghoul stalking him, prepared for murder. The trouble is that there is no corresponding danger in the real world, although the ghoul is determined to get its hands on thebeleaguered author. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Genuinely Frightening Excursion
It was probably "Amazing Stories" schizophrenic nature - amusing family-oriented fare coupled with more mature offerings - that led to the show only lasting one season. An example of the latter is "Mirror, Mirror," a scary story about a Stephen King-like author "stalked" by a mystery figure similar to one of the characters of his novels.Only the author, well-played by a pre-"Law & Order" Sam Waterson can see the spectre until the story's final few seconds. If the show had stuck to one genre, say of the horror/thriller vein, then it may have had a longer run. This reviewed story is, undeniably, one of the program's best.Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Final Viewing
"Final Analysis" is a silly love story/psychiatrist movie/court room drama that attempts to shovel us as many twist and turns as it can, only to fall more and more into the stupidity category. That doesn't mean the movie is bad, because it's not bad, it's just not that good. It has it's entertaining parts, but some of it just falls flat. The movie stars Richard Gere as Isaac Barr, a therapist is treating his mentally disturbed patient Diana (Uma Thurman) when he meets her gorgeous older sister Heather (Oscar Winner Kim Basinger). Barr and Heather begin having an affair, despite the fact that Heather is married to a gangster (Eric Roberts...Yeah, I thought it was funny too). Everything's going well, until Heather kills her husband and has Barr go to court with her and keep her out of jail. Then, right after we're done with the tiring court scenes we jump into way too many silly twists (although the first few were pretty smart). I mean, despite being extremely flawed, this movie does have some O.K. moments. I certainly didn't hate the film; but there are a lot of things wrong with it, besides the plot. Richard Gere is good in his role, there are parts you see him playing frequently. Kim Basinger, most of the time, is playing the person Alec Baldwin makes her out to be in court. A disturbed and mean woman. While Basinger is a fantastic actress, there are times here where she gives a blatant display of overacting. Thurman is great, but her character isn't drawn out that well and some of her motives aren't explained. There are a lot of events in this movie that could've been resolved a lot more easily than the characters choose to do them. Then, there's Eric Roberts who is already the victim of constant ridicule on shows like "South Park" and "Family Guy." It's in this movie it becomes clear why he gets this ridicule. Acting is about not letting other people know you're acting; In this film it looks like Roberts was doing facial impressions of old gangster movies. The way he walks and the way he talks in this movie is really bad sometimes. Overall the movie is mildly entertaining, has some semi-witty dialogue, overacting/bad acting, and two, that's right TWO, bad endings. So, why am I not giving this movie a D or an F. Because it somehow manages to be pretty amusing at times.
5-0 out of 5 stars about the movie final analysis.......

The story is about two sister whom one of them is a killer and the other is a non killer where the killer finally fell to her death while trying to shoot investigating officer with a gun. (The killer is trying to tell the investigating officer a story and in the end killed his would be bridegroom to death with a dumbell, she later caught the investigating officer for finding out what caused her to kill and she decided to get rid of him). 5-0 out of 5 stars One of the coolest movies ever

4-0 out of 5 stars A HILARIOUS AND FORGOTTEN 80'S COMEDY
Three O'Clock High is one of those forgotten gems of a comedy that really makes you laugh. Jerry Mitchell (Casey Siemaszko) portrays a high school student who is asked to do an article in the school paper on the newest kid in school. Little does he realize that this new student is a real sociopath. The new student, Buddy Revell (Richard Tyson) has been kicked out of every school he has been enrolled in. And once the film starts, you can see why: A totally self-absorbed bully.

5-0 out of 5 stars An extraordinary candidate for DVD publication!
Fortunately I was able to tape this out-of-this-world mini-series. But it appears to have disappeared from circulation of late. I, for one, would revel in seeing it again in a glorious remastered DVD edition... Remember Oliver Stone's cameo in a TV show of the future interviewed about the (then solved) Kennedy mystery? Not to mention John Belushi being introduced to William Gibson in a party. I believe that this TV series definitely has historic elements and that it MUST be immortalized on a nice DVD edition!

3-0 out of 5 stars would give 3 1/2 stars
I would have given this movie 3 1/2 stars but I won't! I won't because there are absolutely NO extras on this DVD. U don't even have the optoin to a special featres menu! Only Start Movie, Jump to a Scene, and Language selection. I just hope that Warner Bros. can find it in thier hearts to release a special edition WITH GOOD EXTRAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The other woman whom is the sister of the killer finally found a suitable boyfriend. A recommended buy....
