Raising the Titanic - This IS Fiction
Seriously, this is one of my favorite movies! Granted it's got a hackneyed script and having a nuclear submarine head off the Russians (we were still in the "Cold War" remember?) was a bit far fetched, but what makes it a favorite is:
Great Novel and wonderful music score, don't add up to good film.
I had already read Clive Cussler's fine novel "Raise The Titanic!" upon which this film was based before I saw it in 1980.
DVD is readily available in Region 2 - a fun taut thriller

JAG Season 1 coming to DVD this June!
Get excited JAG fans, Season 1 has been confirmed by Paramount Home Entertainment as due for release on June 20th, 2006. Harmon Rabb is about to make the trap on DVD.
Why not?
I cannot understand why the J.A.G. seasons are not released on DVD. I've been watching it for years, here in Germany, and would very much like to watch the original. I think especially the first 6-7 seasons are simply gorgeus, best American entertainment, heroic and touching, good characters, good acting,well built stories. So why not on DVD? Many of my friends would surely buy it.

Christmas in Hawaii! However you may end up babysitting...
I rarely missed an episode of 'Magnum P.I.' when it ran on primetime in the eighties and I still occasion to watch an episode on cable TV when the opportunity presents itself. The four person cast of Tom Selleck, John Hillerman, Roger Mosley and Larry Manetti worked together excellently; equally compelling were the recurring characters, whether from Magnum's days in the Navy intelligence or Higgins' days in the British military each was a brilliantly conceived foil to both of them. That series chemistry is present here in this Christmas themed episode that revolves around a recently acquired Gauguin painting and a group of five preteen schoolgirls. The best show ever!
I really liked this Magnum p.i. I found it to be very interesting and also it is packed with alot of action and adventure! It was all the things I love in a show.

Where are the rest of the episodes?

Airport '77 is all wet
Airport '77 is the story of bazillionaire Phillip Stevens (a slumming James Stewart) who is jetting some of his friends and colleagues and others on a luxury 747 to view his art collection which is going to become a museum, because, as we learn later...he has A FEW MONTHS TO LIVE!!! Unfortunately, some hijackers unleash some gas on the passengers and plan to swipe the artwork. But the plan goes awry when the plane crashes into the Bermuda Triangle. The Sequels Have Never Been That Great
Since Arthur Hailey had his book "Airport" published which was later made into a movie in 1970, it became successful. The sequels that followed: Airport 1975 (1974) and Airport '77 (1977) did not have that big of a success, though the former fared better at the box office. I was not really that impressed with the latter in scientific terms. The plane crashes at sea and sinks to the bottom when only the forward cargo hold flooded. There was plenty of air inside the rest of the plane that, in reality, could keep it afloat for as long as it was available. The characters, like Airport 1975, overacted as well. Karen Wallace (Lee Grant) was an obnoxious alcoholic who was constantly rude to husband Martin Wallace (Christopher Lee) a professional scuba diver who drowns while accompanying Captain Don Gallagher (Jack Lemmon) to the surface to send out a mayday signal. She goes nuts and tries to open a door before she is subdued and kayoed by first stewardess and girlfriend of Gallagher, Eve Clayton (Brenda Vaccaro). There have been some sequels in the past that have meaning, but most are a waste of a movie watcher's time.

Quite primative,much room for improvement.
What can i say? There isn't much to say. A simple plot and not much to grab your attention, but some well known actors are present, so judge it how you will. ... Read more

this video was ok.......
i am a big fan of Magnum P.I. Probably the biggest fan in the world. i have seen every episode at least twice and this episode of magnum isnt one of the ones i would have made available for vhs. Personally my favorite episodes have to do with when Magnum and Higgins are fighting over whatever. the episode "Paper War" is a really really good one. Magnum and Higgins are trapped in an elevator in it. Its really funny. MCA if you are listening why dont you guys have every single Magnum P.I. episode on vhs in a box set. Or even better DVD. Thanks.

Hot for Teacher
Murder 101 (a.k.a. Private Investigation 101) is one of the funniest, most tongue-in-cheek, episodes of Magnum ever.To pay some extra bills, Magnum has succumbed to teaching a second-rate college course on how to be a P.I....uh-um, that's Private Investigator. Anyway, the class is full of bumbling yokels and they look to Magnum to help them solve a case by going on a series of "class field trips".My favorite student was Danny, the stoned surfer dude who drove the group around in his van. Angel Monica may have that musical Irish lilt to her speaking voice, but her singing voice is anything but heavenly. So when the voice she's always longed to sing praises to God with turns out to belong to an ungrateful teenager in "Voice of an Angel," Monica's resentment rages out of control. She abandons her assignment only to end up in a karaoke bar and then handcuffs. In a bit of stunt casting, the sullen, gum-snapping girl is played by the operatic star Charlotte Church and the boys of 'N Sync appear in cameo roles as street singers. The second episode, "Legacy," follows a more solemn track with an alum-made-good (Jere Burns) who bullies his son into attending his alma mater and joining the same fraternity. When a pledging rite goes awry, one of the son's roommates falls into a coma and the fraternity president demands cooperation in a cover-up. This thought-provoking episode examines the ethical responsibilities of a bystander. Its focus on young people enhances its value as a starting-off point for discussions on the subject with tweens or young teens. Voice Of An Angel/Legacy
I would definitely recommend these tapes to anyone with teenagers in the house. I'm 16 myself, and I loved these episodes. They reach to the younger generation, like myself, out there. A definite must have!

A Suedo Angel
I must agree with the many here who conclude that Charlotte Church cannot act.Her inclusion here seems more a charity case or an accomodation to someone in the industry.However, I will disagree with those who feel her inclusion in this program is justified based on her "angelic" conduct.Based on my many years of following her, nothing could be further from the truth... Great Show.....needs to be on DVD!!
I regularly watch this program and find that it always has an important message and is always uplifting.The only problem right now is that it is not on DVD.This would be a great collectable DVD...hopefully they will release it by season!! ... Read more

FANTASTIC Christmas story.
If this won't move you to tears, I'm not sure anything will. I'm not a huge Touched By An Angel fan, but these are two episodes that I just love. Wayne (played by Randy Travis) is the callous older brother of a handicapped boy named Joey. Through these episodes, we see Wayne come to love and accept his brother, and God, more and more. Wonderful performances, especially from the guy that plays Joey (whose name I unfortunately can't remember at the moment). Definitely a worthy addition to your Christmas collection. Touching...
I've never been a huge fan of this show, in fact the holiday episode with Ann-Margret was the only episode I caught.That being said, it's one of the most touching and well acted (largely in part due to Ann-Margret's brilliant performance) show I've seen in a long time.This episode will surely make you teary-eyed...I was expecting a sappy holiday episode and this is in no way that! Beautiful Episode/Included in The Complete Season 3
All of the Dr Quinn episodes will move you in some way."For Better Or Worse" is one of the most moving. This is the feature length wedding episode, that has Mike torn between her family's wedding plans and the townsfolk. On the more serious end, Custer is out to get Cloud Dancing, and Sully tries to protect his good friend. The wedding, a beautiful event, will at the very least, have you all choked up, and brings back the return of a few favorite characters from other episodes, and even Hank and Jake become unlikely heroes. The closing scene is just too beautiful for words.
Irresistibly Romantic
The Dr. Quinn/Medicine Woman series had, in my opinion, some of television's most truly romantic moments (in contrast to the crude sex scenes of many movies which leave nothing to the imagination and fail to touch the heart).The chemistry between the rough yet articulate and noble-hearted Sully (Joe Lando)and the idealistic, headstrong Mikaela Quinn is palpable. This particular episode marks the triumphant climax of their long, stormy courtship and is filled with warmth, tenderness and heart-pounding sensuality (in spite of the G rating). True romantics will not be able to resist!Aside from romance, this series is top quality family entertainment with excellent character-development, positive role models, and accurate historic events/issues, many of which are still relevant today (e.g., environmental protection, civil and women's rights).

Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman: For Better or Worse
I absolutely love this video. Its very interesting to me how a woman in the 1800s had to win the respect of a man to have equal rights. In doing all that she won the heart of an extremely cute guy in the process. I think that Jane Seymour and Joe Lando are the perfect actors to pursue these characters, very interesting characters. I just cannot say enough about this video and the whole series for that matter. You just have to get it. I highly recommend it for a person at any age. Preferrably a teenager and above. ... Touched By an Angel: The Spirit of Liberty Moon
I loved this episode! I collect all the videos of this series and watched them with my children on Sundays. We just watched The Spirit of Liberty Moon today and I still cry! very moving! I can honestly say there is'nt to many episodes I don't like.

Another view of China
I came away from watching Spirit... with a feelling of hope for China.Whilethe program is not one that ends happily for everyone, it does leave mehopeful. Change is unsettling and change in China has been tremendous andnot always positive for everyone.There are important points to be learnedfrom this program about life in China, as lived by it's citizens that it isimportant to consider.The sense of inevitability once Jean enters thelegal system is chilling and the helplessness of all concerned to changethe outcome is especially moving.At the conclusion, you can look back andsee the impact that Jean has had on the people she has come in contactwith; her boss in America, his slightly frantic partner who also has feltthe touch of Jean, and her former partner in freedom in China who whileoutwardly conforming, is still harboring thoughts of improving China fromwithin.All of them have been influenced by her.I found this program tobe one of hope for China, both now and over the long haul.TBAA has taken a difficult subject,shown it objectively and left us with the feeling that there is more toChina than the pronouncements of those in power.This has been a hardreview to write because I could see the conflict within China today yetremember the days of the Cultural Revolution and the turmoil that resulted. The London Caper Case
Great as most Magnum P.I.s. This time he must go to London to figure out what happened to a friend. Things seem familiar in a strange way. That is all I will tell you so as not to spoil the fun. To bad the whole series is not on DVD. As popular as it was I am quite certain it would sell well to the people that originally watched it, and those that did not that like private eye TV shows or movies.

TOP-NOTCH PRIVATE EYE PROGRAM
Magnum pi was for me one of the best programs on television in the 1980's. I remember seeing this particular episode not too long ago on t.v and iliked the fact it took place out of the Hawiil setting into London. All iremeber this was a fast paced episode like all the other ones and the mostmemorable as well.

Magical Magnum Mystery
If you are looking for one Magnum, p.i. tape for your video collection, this is the one to get. The episode "Murder 101" which is also on video is another good choice. "Deja Vu," however, is a bitdifferent than other Magnum episodes. First, it runs at a little over anhour and a half (so, that is more Magnum for your money.) Second, thisepisode is set in London and not Hawaii - but, never fear, the whole castis there. Third, it is quite the excellent Magnum mystery with many twistsand turns. In this episode, we also get to see some superior acting fromSelleck and another side of the character of Higgins. For those who havenot seen this episode or who don't remember it, I'm not going to giveanything away. You'll have to watch it to find out. There were so manyenjoyable Magnum episodes, I can't figure out why more are not available. Ialso can't figure out why the episodes which are available on video werechosen to be, with the exception of "Deja Vu" which mostcertainly should be out of video. Other episodes that should also beavailable though are "Unfinished Business" (an excellent Viet NamPOW/MIA episode), "Limbo" (the 1987 season finale with theexcellent cliffhanger of Magnum being left in a coma), "Infinity &Jelly Doughnuts" (the first show of the next season which picks upwhere "Limbo" left off) and, of course, the final episode"Resolutions" which also aired for 2 hours as did "DejaVu." Let's hope MCA Universal releases more Magnum episodes. The TomSelleck movie "An Innocent Man" should also be re-released onvideo. Selleck is great no matter what he is in because he is just TomSelleck. What also makes watching Magnum episodes enjoyable is knowing howmuch fun the cast had working together, how well they got along and theknowledge that Selleck was deeply loved and admired by all of the cast andothers. All reports indicate that Selleck is not one of those stars whosefame went to his head. On the contrary, he has always been deemed a"nice guy" who takes good care of his friends and fellow castmembers and who unselfishly shared his wealth. Dont eat the snow in Hawaii
Magnum is my absolute favorite seriesand when you see the first episode you'll know why he and the cast were so popular and still are to many of us.I loved how he introduced us to who he was , where he came from. I would recommend you to see this very first Magnum episod
Magnum PI is one of the best shows on TV ever, and I really enjoyed seeing this premier episode. If you have seen the later episodes, you can see the chemistry between the casts - they are great together. In this first episode, the characters are still very "unpolished", and you would probably have difficult to recognize the different characters if you just have seen episodes from the last seasons. For example, Rick is some kind of Bogart-look-a-like that has some kind of Casablanca-club in Honolulu...nothing like King Kamehamea Club at all. Higgins are pretty much the same, even if I miss his great stories in this 1,5 hours episode. However, this is a great production, and if you were interested in seeing a film about great adventures, Hawaii, Ferrari, Friendship, and the start of one of the most successful TV shows ever, I would recommend you to see this very first Magnum PI episode.

Murder Meets Magnum
Although I always love to watch Tom Selleck walk around in shorts, this was not my favorite espiode. Murder She Wrote and Magnum are two great shows, hooowever, the writers of this particular espiode doees not captureeither actor magic. "Murder On Ice" was much better.Also anyonewho may want to see this espiode may like to check out A&E on cable,they are carrying the Magnum reruns.

Glad it's being released.....but
I'm so glad these Gunsmoke movies are being released on DVD. But, can someone tell me why this wasn't released as a 3 DVD set and not indivdidual DVD's.Like the "Sarah Plain and Tall" 3 movie saga.It was released with all 3 movies together in one case. I'm pretty sure most people are going to purchase all 3 movies of gunsmoke.I'm thinking "SPACE", "ROOM" to keep all these DVD's that are being released or have been released.Not everyone has all the space in there home for so many shows being released on DVD.To the manufactures of these movies:Next time do a survey to find out what people would like.I sure would of liked all 3 Gunsmoke movies in one case (jacket).

A Case Study of Civilization
This is a parable about people who are oppressed and seek their liberation from an organized gang. They consult an older bearded man, who tells them to get arms from across the border (where people were free to keep and bear arms). The three ambassadors wind up hiring a team of experienced gunmen to defend their town against the recurring raiders. These seven free lancers work to educate and train the townsmen in the use of firearms and fortifications. Si vis pacem parabellum.
M7 DVD
I am so happy this is finally out on DVD! My dad and I used to catch the episodes on hallmark channel before they quit running the re-runs. I hope to get this for x-mas, or at least get enough money to purchase my own copy. :D

a n overlooked gem
this movie is an example of the best of television that is never watched.The made for tv movie is most definately not a remake of the old movie film. This show is pure enjoyable entertainment. The plot is simple, but it works. The true charm of this show is the characters. The casting is perfect. Each actor brings such personallity to their part, you can watch again and again. Each line is quotable. The series that evolved was the finest televsion has ever offered, but as the juvenile minds running the network do, they cancelled. It didn't matter that this show had the biggest fan club ever and that each episode was in itself movie worthy. If you are looking for pure entertainment, watch this movie. Of course, the fact that the seven stars are gorgeous is only an added perk, like extra butter on the popcorn.. Watch, laugh, and enjoy.they don't make them this good any more. ... Read more

KIRK GOES KRAZY
William Shatner has never been called a great actor.True, he guided STAR TREK into immortality, but that was mainly because of the series itself, with Shatner's Captain Kirk becoming more of a caricature to be revered as opposed as an acting conquest.In this entertaining, if improbable, movie, Shatner plays Aiden Carvell, an advertising executive, who is on his way to becoming a state senator.Jeff Speakman plays his campaign manager who discovers that Senator Carvell is up to some sneaky, anti-government activities, like funding a militia group that would take over America!Speakman's martial arts training enables him to become a veritable superman in his quest to take Shatner down.Lisa Darr is his supportive wife who gets caught up in the mayhem; Chris Lemmon has a small role as an FBI agent supervising witness protection for Speakman and his family.There are lots of car chases, bullets flying and an almost humorous climax between Shatner and Speakman.Speakman is a martial arts Shatner; not a great actor but a commanding presence nonetheless.
This would've been good material for MST3K!
William Shatner has to support his life of luxury. Horses, girlfriends.He plays a Presidential candidate in this one.Although I can't say his performance has changed through the years; it was his over acting thatmakes this so entertaining.The ending where he battles the Jeff Speakman"good guy" character makes this worth it.Seeing Shatner jumpout of a helicopter was like somthing out of his Captain Kirk era.MysteryScience Theater 3000 would have a field day with this one! The formerprogram could be revived with all of Shatner's bad films.Now if only hewould sell the rights........

One star is too generous.
Aiden Carvill (no relation to James, and portrayed by William Shatner) is a Senate candidate who is also the kingpin in a conspiracy of right-wing militias to take over the country. Fortunately, he hires a martial artsexpert, former Navy SEAL, and survivor from the explosion of the planetKrypton, whose wife used to drive in demolition derbies, as an aide. Whenthe FBI gets the aide to check on some incriminating info on his boss, heis caught, and the militias make the mistake of going after Superman andhis family. The movie goes downhill from there, ending in the herocommitting first degree murder. The other members of the conspiracysurvive, but apparently are too intimidated by this man to take furtheraction.
