Good for a B rated Movie
If you like B rated movies you will probably like this one.There is lots of action in this film.David Heavener is a sexey guy.You will also see small roles played by Shannon Tweed, and Eric Estrada.

OPEN SEASON
In this outrageously contrived film, David Heavner wrote, directed and stars as a yuppie computer nerd who is targeted as the prey in some rich man's game.How the prey is chosen is never clarified, and how it can be conducted is rather incredible.People sitting around betting on whether someone will be killed or not is a hard scenario to swallow.The action scenes are redundant, and Heavener is not the world's most talented actor.Being able to claim star/director/producer status doesn't ensure quality.
David Heavener is no Harrison Ford.
I rented this video because the title reminded me of one of my favorite films, THE FUGITIVE, but I was very disappointed.The story is about this guy (Heavener himself) who is injected with this tracking device and he ishunted down by these killers as a group of rich gamblers bet on when and ifhe will be killed.It sounds like an interesting story, and it may haveworked if the direction and acting had been better, but David Heavener isno Harrison Ford and he doesn't have the talent to pull it off.I'd haveto give it a thumbs down.

Martin Landau should fire his agent for putting him in this!
I bought this video because I'm a big fan of Martin Landau, but after seeing this film, I think he should fire his agent!This film was obviously made on a very low budget and it shows.The dialogue is so stiffit has splinters.I felt bad for Martin Landau, you could tell he knewthis was a bad film, but he probably needed the money as this was madebefore his 'comeback' in "Ed Wood".Speaking of Ed Wood, he wasa better director than the guy who directed this stinker.I'm just gladLandau has moved on to bigger and better films and he no longer has to makegarbage like this to pay his bills. ... AMATEURISHS/F SWORDFIGHTING VIDEO
Robert Chapin, who gave us so much good action in "Ring of Steel", does nothing to advance his career here. This is a lamely written, poorly directed, overall amateur-feeling video. Don't waste your time.
I rented this video because I like films with action and sword fights, but this film did not deliver.The action was weak and the sword fights were silly.The direction and acting were even worse.I wish I could saysomething positive but I can't think of anything.

This movie is much more than it seems to to casual viewer
Don't be put off by the cheesy song during the opening titles. After this there are some shots of a spaceship that are highly reminiscent of the SFX used in the best Science Fiction ever (be it series or film): Blake's 7. Fans of that series know that expensive effects are not what a great viewing experience make, so for those of you who are only used to the boring Holywood films that only attract viewers because of the expensive FX, just sit through this scene for a very short while and you will be pleasantly surprised by what Outlaw Prophet has to offer. On first glance it doesn't show for the casual viewer, but look a little further and the film is a complicated amalgam of Science Fiction, an highly original view on religion and a very accurate attack on today's viewer-ratings-based television culture (if you can still call it that). And all of these elements are intertwined in a way that leaves you increasingly surprised as the film nears the end. The acting is very good, especially considdering the budget of the film - the little girl is briljant! David Heavener wrote, produced and stars in this film, so we know that what we see is actually the vision of the creator and no executives have messed with the product to include any "popular themes" or rip-off scenes from movies that sold well recently, as is so often the case with the expensive garbage that we see in the multiplexes. Highly recommended!!

It's good to watch for laughs but rent it first.

"cr*p on a stick" is too kind for "Outlaw Prophet"
I rented this once, and I swear I got stupider watching it.If you are a humanitarian, buy this horrible, horrible movie, and burn it _UNWATCHED_ as a favor to the world.It has no discernible plot, bad acting, a music video? thrown in for no apparent reason I could find (it's even a dumb music video), and then tosses in something about the devil and television just to really cap the whole thing off.That guy who wrote before me?And suggested watching paint dry before this stupid waste of a tape?Seriously.The paint would be better.I wish I could give this negative stars. ... I was dumbstruck as to how bad this movie was. It has to be watched to truly appreciate how awe-inspiringly awful this movie is.
