Not Anything Special
I saw this at Movie Trading Company for $3.99 and on sale for $1.99. So I went on a big limd and bought it. I wasn't that suprised about it, it wasn't that good. Goldie Hawn did a pretty good job. The actor for the husband was a little pradictable. The ending was a suprise, but all in all a pretty good movie.

Is The Movie On The DVD Shown In Widescreen Or is It Pan And Scan?
Deceived is a great movie and it ius one of my favorite Goldie Hawn movies. Most of Goldie's movies have been comedies but this is a dramatic mystery and suspense movie and Goldie is very good as a wife who's husband is not who he appears to be and when he apparently dies in a car accident she begins to discover some facts about him that are really shocking. John Heard plays the husband and he is very good and so is Ashley Peldon as their little daughter Mary and she is absolutely adorable!. I had this movie on video tape and when I found out it was on DVD I gave my video tape way because I wanted to buy the DVD but I have held off buying it because Amazon is not giving the information about the aspect ratio on wether it's a widescreen format on the DVD or an edited pan and scan format. I like widescreen fomats on my DVDs and I don't want to buy this DVD and find out it's a stupid edited pan and scan DVD! Can someone please tell me what the aspect ratio of the DVD is? is it Widescreen or pan and scan?

THOROUGHLY ENJOYABLE MOVIE - GET IT!!
I'm 39 and STILL love this movie.Saw it first while in my 20's and this is still one of my favorite movies of all time!!Ione Skye is stunning in this movie - you definitely won't be disappointed!!Saw her recently in a television show about the FBI and she doesn't look NEARLY as good as she did in this movie.Her personality was also very good in this movie.James Spader is pretty good too.Sad to say, I STILL can't find a copy of the soundtrack, which is GREAT!!

Come on critics, lighten up.This movie is pure fun.I loveit as much in my 40's as I did in my 20's.It may not be hip enough for later generations, but if you came of age in the 80's - it should remind you of yourself, and make you smile.
The Rachel Papers
Perhaps not on par with the novel but more accessible.Although brilliant and highly original, I think Martin Amis' first book contains some obscure passages and insider English schoolboy jokes.Also, the 1970's setting of the book has been replaced by the 1980's in the movie.Read more

BarkinFan
This isn't Oscar material but a film worth seeing. I am biased toward Barkin. The plot with it's twists and turns keep you guessing and the ending is appropriate. Barkin will keep you interested. Barkin and Fishburne were the film, though they could have editted the outdoor scene, it was strictly for sensationalism.

Barkin, Fishburne Out for Blood...
...forget the overused plot line of cross and doublecross in this 1990's noir like thriller. Watch Barkin and Fishburne do some serious sneering and smirking as the plot gets twisted and contorted and convoluted...Beach and the two gov't agents are so sleezy you can see the greed dripping from their pores. Good movie.

child abuse,lesbianism,anger.
Today,is may 29th,06. Rented movie. Excellent writing,great acting. Had to write a review,people don't think when they write a review. Ellen barkin is trying to figure out who the killer is. she asks petascharacter what she is hiding. The only thing she is hiding, is her own child hood abuse. That is the bases for the killings. the killer was abused her self as a child. But we think the killer is the crazy cross dressing psyciatrist.[spelling]The writer does an excellent job of useing his patients in the story. Bernadine sees her aunt and another women together naked as a child. It contributes to her cuiosity as an adult. The message is clear,sex abuse really hurts people when they become adults. Human beings always review they're child hood,good or bad,as adults. Also we did not think a women could do the horrible murders. The sex is very erotic,Barkin getting f__ked while getting her hair pulled. Very sexual scene with peta almost seduceing Barkin. Peta has very nice body,wanted to kiss her myself down to her pretty feet. other reviews are not good. This is a very good movie. Also Zerha leverman is beautiful,great body.

Obstacles and mystery
The detective story in Mercy is solid. The bondage/Lesbian elements serve as obstacles for Ellen Barkin's detective character. Instead of sacrificing mystery and suspense to dowse the plot with sexual indulgence, the movie sustains its validity as a good suspense thriller. Character development is interesting, as is the search for a solution to the bizarre crimes that seem to continue without clues. A solution to additional misconduct is also addressed - a satisfying bonus to the film's complex storyline.

Disappointing
I must say I am very disturbed that Peta Wilson has been put in a string of clunkers, even sinking to doing a stupid lesbian flick.Really proves the point that hollyweird has gone all out-not for me, I will watch re-runs of Nikita and try not to think of queers. ... Read more
