5 star entertainment, 2 star history
I think this film is great for its entertainment value.Jeff Daniels puts forth an excellent performance as General Washington, and the direction and editing do an excellent job of building suspense during the crossing of the Delaware River.Even though I knew the outcome, I found myself concerned about the ultimate success of the mission.That being said, the portrayal of Henry Knox does a diservice to the father of American artillery.While John Glover and his men did yeomens'work during the crossing, Knox commanded the operation.It was through his efforts as a leader, working in concert with Glover, that the Americans succeeded in their task. The movie disparages his achievement for comedic effect.Overall, I recommend this film, but watch it after reading David Hackett Fischer's "Washington's Crossing" or David McCullough's "1776".

Unlike The Patriot which was purely made for propaganda purposes, The Crossing, follows a much more pragmatic, realistic, and in effect a more truthful account of events during the American War of Independence (1775-1783).The film brings to the screen George Washington's first victory during the American Revolution: The Battle of Trenton. history well done
quite an excellent view of Washington's crossing coupled with the historical context which showed the importance of winning the early morning battle. VERY GOOD INTENSE THRILLER!
This movie was released over twenty years ago. And considering the types of film's back then, this film was a great treat. But even after all those years the film is still great. [Too bad they did a part 2: that was a bad film!] Also, this is the only film by C.Thomas Howell I ever liked. There is definetly a cautionary tale here: don't pick up hitchhikers. The film starts off with Jim Halsey (C. Thomas Howell) working as a car deliveryman. His latest client is in San Diego. He has departed from Chicago, however, events occur in the barren southwestern U.S.
Never pick up a hitchhiker
This film will make you swear off picking up hitchhikers forever. A young man gives a hitcher a ride resulting in unremitting, episodic violence as the hitchhiker, played by Rutger Hauer, follows the boy and creates havoc. Violent and terrifying film. Recommended.

brutal to the outer extremes!!!!!
this movie is about a serial killer. Hauer pursues C.Toms character all throughout simply because he offered him a ride and managed to kick him out of his car before he could do some not very nice things to him with a switchblade. Hauer plays a bizarre game with CT by killing all of these people and framing him for the murders, but rescuing him before the authorities can catch him. Even though there is a ton of violence and bloodshed, what makes this movie intense is all of the horrible things that happen offscreen or is described through dialogue between the two characters. In fact, the hitchers motivations are never explained, a brilliant move because his atrocities really excite your imagination as to why all of this had to happen. ... Read more

A Beautiful Story for Any Age
This movie was a complete surprise to me. It's beautifully and realistically filmed, with highly credible acting by everyone, including the beautiful dobie..I've never seen a movie that gave me a better sense of perspective from the dog's view. I feel fortunate to have a copy of it and find it's a wonderful 'pick me up' on a blue day..The movie conveys a powerful message of hope under seemingly hopeless circumstances. I would recommend"Eyes of an Angel" to everyone.

captivatiing and heart wrenching
This movie just shows the dedication that dogs have for people they love.They will go to extreme lenghts to protect the people that they love and who have shown them love.Unconditonal love is what we get from our pets, this movie will have you rooting for the dog and praying for thepeople he loves. It doesn't start out very fast paced but once you get involved you can't leave the screen til you find out what happens.Dobies are our dog of choice so this was especially meaningful to us.The little girl befriends this dog and in turn he becomes her hero and protector.Wonderful story, I love to watch it over and over again!!!!Other recommendations would be "The Doberman Gang" "Those Amazing Dobermans" and the "Daring Dobermans".

I saw this movie several years ago on HBO, but have never been able to find it to purchase. Fantastic story, but the best character in the story is the Dobe. As one who has had at least two for the last 20 years, they are that loyal. They look mean, but for "their people" they are big softies, and they will get to you. Early Travolta, but good. ... Typically if I want to get a friend's reaction to my favorite drama ever, I'll have them sit down and watch these three episodes with me. They represent some of the finest acting and cinematography I've seen in quite some time. The Reason Owning A Television Is Mandatory
Homicide: Life On The Street is hands down the best television series ever. It is the Lord of the Rings of TV. Feature-film levels of scripting, acting and directing. The stories are intense, sad, funny, and gripping. The characters shame any others on TV, and stand with the best of fictional characters in any medium. Get it, watch it, love it.

Best Van Damme Movie Ever!
Well first of all I never really liked Van Damme's movies, well it's not so much that I didn't like them but it was pretty much the same thing over and over again...he would beat up people.However, this movie had a different story line.It wasn't only an action movie, but a drama as well.I think that he did a great job potraying the character and he really took on the role of the "father" for the little boy.I think he did a great job with that, since when you looked at him, you could tell that he wanted to be part of that family.I think he should do more movies like this, and it is definetely worth seeing/buying...you'll enjoy it :).So don't wait any longer, BUY it.Oh and this one isn't only for guys...my mom saw it with me and she enjoyed it as well.I believe females will enjoy this one as well.

This was such a well made movie and i don't understand why JCVD doesn't do more movies like this! They made JCVD more human than he was in films like Universal Soldier and Bloodsport because he was not the "i will kick your ass any day" guy. He was the "i will kick your ass to protect this family" guy. It also had an ending that the others didn't, but i won't spoil it for you. I love this movie, JCVD's best work!

Stunning Work!
This is extraordinary acting - vincent D'Onofrio, Andre Braugher (always fabulous in this series) and the other great "Homicide" cast - but this story is amazing. Seemed almost more like a stage production than film/television. I saw the story as a metaphor - life, death, the meaning, the randomness versus design of it all, responsibility/lack thereof, the train....all of it. Extremely powerful in every way. Original, powerful, brilliant work.

An episode worthy of inclusion in anyone's video library!
"Homicide: Life on the Streets" was always a favorite of the critics, but it never garnered the ratings success that it so fittingly deserved. Featuring one of the most gifted ensemble casts ever put together (especially the brilliant Andre Braugher with exemplary support from Yaphet Kotto, Kyle Secor and Clark Johnson), "Homicide" should still be on NBC's schedule, right there with the respective "Law & Order's" and "ER". The movie had its moments some of the dialogue was hard to understand but the acting was fine. Assante and Quinn both were very good in their roles. It's worth buying if your into mafia movies.

I am a huge mob fan (and being from BKLYN, know a bit about the real mob) and an even bigger John Gotti fan. You've got to love movies where Wes Craven's name is listed along with the title, as if that somehow makes the film better.Wes Craven isn't actually the director (that honor belonging to Robert Harmon and Rick Bota), so his connection to the film is tenuous at best.Besides, these days, Craven's name on horror movies isn't necessarily a plus.
Very disturbing ending
Over all this was a very enjoyable movie.It had a lot of mystery and suspense and the acting was pretty good.The entire concept seemed to be well thought out, but the ending left me just sitting there staring at the screen...Wow!You'll remember the ending for a long time after you see this one.

They---are idiots
ill admit was pretty freaky but what the heck do "they" want from them!!the whole movie some freaky things stock people then kill them, eat them, or give them to there young awww so kind. And a very dissipointing ending if you havent seen the movie im gona spoil it right here......she gets taken to there world for food for the babies awwwwwww!! not my movie of the freakin year.

NOT GREAT BUT STILL ENTERTAINING!
While this is not the greatest film of its genre, it's also not a bad film either. The main weakness is in the writing. More effort should have gone into the script, which is a bit flawed. However, it was still an entertaining film. So instead of taking it too seriously, just sit back and enjoy the ride...er film. The story is a bit predictable, but that doesn't stop it from being an interesting film. The main protagonist Rennie Cray (James Caviezel) scours the countryside of America in search of the man who intentionally ran his wife down on the side of a road.
Well . . .
Okay, I'll admit it.This won't be a classic.It probably won't have a cult following-well, maybe a small one.But it was an okay thriller to pass two hours . . . give or take.There really were some "on the edge of your seat" moments.And it takes a skilled director to make an automobile seem terrifying on a movie screen.
