4-0 out of 5 stars About the episode;"Women in Chains."
This is a high point in the Canon! It co-stars a very young Jamie Lee Curtis as a convict who can put the finger on the nefarious space pirate, Pantera! Here is what I learned from this episode;
5-0 out of 5 stars still fun after all these years
ok,sure it was a big wedge of cheese, but at 12 years old this was the coolest thing going. gil gerard was the man and erin gray was the hottest babe around(except when pamela hensley guest starred) and the f/x weren't that bad! the best thing about the show was the costumes(what there was of them for the ladies) and the fun that it brought into the living room every thursday night. when i saw that they had put the whole show out in one package i had to get it,and it's still as much fun as ever.
4-0 out of 5 stars Great trip down memory lane
I loved this as a kid but was hesitant to rewatch it as an adult. At first, those fears were realised- I kept comparing it to modern, intricately scripted sci-fi shows. Then, I remembered that this was tongue-in-cheek, comic strip adventure.Buck is the kind of hero we seldom see anymore. He's not the anti-hero type that is so popular today-he's actually a "good guy."Buck's a normal man with strong convictions who does heroic things. This show works like a high-end update of a 1930's serial.(After all, that's what it was intended to be.)Like it's 1970s counterpart, "Battlestar Galactica" (the original- not the bland, depressing remake) it was designed to be pure escapism- a futuristic western with role models that kids could look up to.Gil Gerard makes a great lead and "Buck Rogers in the 25th Century" remains one of my favorite guilty pleasures. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Art comes to life. So run for your life!
Rod Serling short stories--the classic TV movie that launched the series.Roddy is excellent in story in which graveyard paintings come to life!
5-0 out of 5 stars Welcome To The Night Gallery
Those opening words by writer, host and all round creative genius Rod Serling paved the way for viewers to enjoy many intriguing stories of mystery, mayhem and the supernatural during the three year run of the classic series "Night Gallery". A brain child of Serling who had earlier been responsible for the creation of one of televisions most innovative and best remembered series in the classic "The Twilight Zone","Night Gallery was a regular anthology series on NBC that told stories of macabre happenings with surreal characters in often out of this world situations. This particular TV movie was the original pilot for the series and aired in 1969. It contains three individual stories and was adapted by Rod Serling from his own short story collection titled "The Season to be Wary". While varying in quality with the third story by far the weakest, all are rich in suspense and detail with stories one and two boasting top flight guest stars in engrossing teleplays.5-0 out of 5 stars Flashforward: 1969-1972

5-0 out of 5 stars A must for Rick Nelson Fans! Great concert footage!
This video is rated 5 stars not just for the show itself, which isn't bad, but for the fact that Rick Nelson sings about 8 songs in it. Real concert footage of Rick before a real crowd is used. Unlike his contemporary ElvisPresley, it is hard to find concert footage of Rick Nelson. In this showRick plays rocker Tony Eagle. The Hardy Boys foil a plot against his life.Ironically the villan tries to cause Tony Eagle's plane to crash. The HardyBoys prevent Tony's plane from taking off. Would that someone could havedone the same in real life. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars hardy boys in egypt
although shaun does not sing in this video, it is still pretty good.you find yourself saying to yourself don't do that guys!it really draws you in.

5-0 out of 5 stars King Tut's Tomb-Frank and Joe in Egypt
When Frank succeeds in recapturing a purse snatched in an Egyptian bazaar, he is mystified when the owner, a lovely American girl, refuses to take it back. Instead, she pushes the key to her hotel room into his hands and asks him to meet her there later. When he and Joe open the purse they find what appears to be a priceless artifact, which has almost certainly been stolen. That evening at the hotel, they don't find the purse's owner, they find the street urchin who'd stolen the purse (who escapes again), and then the police - who confiscate their passports. 4-0 out of 5 stars The Hardy Boys in Egypt...What could be better?
As a "Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries" fan, I found this video to be a real treat! It features the Hardy Boys in an exotic, mystery filled location and throws in some 1970's disco to boot!I especiallyenjoyed the inclusion of the original intro to the program followed by theannouncement "Tonight on the Hardy Boys.."This video is greatfor those who love 1970's nostalgia. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars WHICH ONE WAS IT?
I WAS A CHILD WHEN THIS TV SERIES WAS ON THE AIR ALSO. HOWEVER I RECALL AT LEAST TWO EPISODES WHICH HAD BOTH NANCY DREW AND THE HARDY BOYS BOTH IN THE PLOT AT THE SAME TIME?..CAN ANYONE HELP ME WITH THE TITLES AND ARE THEY FOR SALE?

3-0 out of 5 stars A good solid performance in it's time!
A nicely done show with Shaun Cassidy and Parker Stevenson playing the trio of Joe and Frank Hardy searching for their kidnapped father in Mexico. Former "Dynasty" actress Kimberly Beck does fairly good in herguest starring role(She also dated Shaun Cassidy in real life). A greatshow for it's second season!A true mystery.

4-0 out of 5 stars Solid episode. It can still hold it's own
I enjoyed watching this episode on tape.I watched it a few times,in fact. For me it doesn't seem completely outdated, unlike other tv series that suddenly become outdated as soon as 5 years later. When I can I wantto order more Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!!
I have most of the Nancy Drew videos and I think this one is my favorite! When the hosts of a benefit carnival are robbed of their jewels, Nancy sets out to try to get a job at the carnival to find out if any of the carnival workers are the thieves. As usual, she soon finds herself in danger. To complete your Nancy Drew video collection, this one is a must have!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty Good Movie!
In this movie, Nancy, George, Carson, and Ned are a benifit in the form of a carnival when the hosts are roobed of their expensive jewels! It's up toNancy and her friends to find the robbers and return the jewels. But it'snot that easy. Nancy will have you asking for more in The Mystery Of TheFallen Angels. ... Read more

I didn't like it at all! I hated the ending. I thought it could be so much better. It is so bad compared to all the other ones in the series.

5-0 out of 5 stars Lisa Eilbacher rules
The Hardy Boys-Nancy Drew, for people of my generation(25-30), is a sad nostalgia trip - sad because we were almost too young to remember the whole series in 1977-1979, and it ended so soon.It was well done - notnecessarily the (dated) music permeating almost every episode, but thewhole ambience of late '70's life. While Parker Stevenson fits the role ofFrank Hardy well, and his acting is decent, I find Shaun Cassidy's lessimpressive(I realize many people buy these videos for Cassidy - if so,enjoy, he's here in abundance in every episode). The real unsung draw ofseveral 1977 episodes, and especially this one, is Lisa Eilbacher as CallieShaw - in my humble opinion the greatest of American actresses. This isearly Eilbacher, and she easily out-acts everyone else. For a follow-uppairing Stevenson and Eilbacher, try to catch 1981's This House Possessed -almost a Hardy Boys movie, minus Cassidy.

3-0 out of 5 stars One of the best Hardy Boys episodes I've ever seen!
A good storyline which features alot of the characters from the storybook such as Chet Morton and Callie Shaw. Non-stop good action fun in thisepisode as they try to solve an unsolved mystery of creatures, screamingpeople and missing clues. Well acted for that era in the late 70's, but thenew baby boomers will find it a drag since there's other shows now like theX-Files and so on. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars ND: Pirate's Cove -have dvd
I have the DVD of Season One Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries on 2 disc set.I basically like all of the episodes, some are more interesting than others. This one, Pirate's Cove, has a pleasant location on the coast, assume east coast; at a 'haunted' lighthouse.A thunderstorm & secret cave adds to the fun. This is probably for 70's fans - and now their younger (7+ yrs) children and grandchildren.I would recommend the dvd set rather the VHS.(My family also enjoyed the Hardy Boys 'Haunted House' episode.)

5-0 out of 5 stars Nancy's first TV episode - Hugely Enjoyable
My first time to see Nancy Drew (and more importantly, Pamela Sue Martin as Nancy Drew!) in about twenty years. And a real pleasure it was.5-0 out of 5 stars A leader for modern independent women on tv.
LET ME START BY SAYING THAT THIS SHOW IS SOLID. The clothes are (hardly)not dated. It is still great to watch. I loved watching the Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mystery hour. When I got this video I watched it not justonce, but a few times. I loved taking a stroll back in time.I just wantto know what happened to George's cousin, Nancy's other co-hort "incrime".I can't wait to get my next ND video. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Run For Your Live, The Dunwich Horror Has Arrived On DVD
This is a very frightening and creepy, 70's teen horror classic. Dean Stockwell and Sandra Dee shine in this cult classic.
5-0 out of 5 stars Captures the Eeriness of Lovecraft for a 1970 Film
I read all of the other reviews and was amazed. While it is true that the low budget affairs seem to give Lovecraft a bad name in the cinema realm, one has to admit that Lovecraft's nightmare fantasies are not as easily translated onto the big screen. Take Lawrence Bernabo's review - (a so-called Top 10 Reviewer) - " Lovecraft's story of ancient horror and interdimensional monsters is reduced to standard black magic nonsense." Obviously Mr. Bernabo has never read the story else he would have realized that much of Lovecraft's protagonists are into little more than "black magic nonsense" and that is how these extra dimensional horrors gain a foothold back in this reality.
4-0 out of 5 stars Good, colorful, well acted, new england, gothic horror
As a gothic style horror this little film has about everything anybody could want - excluding violence. Granted for the most part it is not very scary, and is sometimes campy and there are a few plot elementes that don't make sense.

4-0 out of 5 stars I spell fun H-A-R-D-Y B-O-Y-S
I am giving this review four stars because my only caveat is that you never get to hear a full Shaun Cassidy song. You hear enough to tease you into buying whatever album of his was hot in the seventies, but not the whole thing. This show is as much fun as Scooby Doo (and that's a compliment). Both Parker Stevenson and Shaun Cassidy displayed a laid back, easy pairing that transcended the not-so-challenging scripts. They are just fun to watch, and when you get to hear some of that great bubble gum pop Shaun sang so well, you have a show that shines as bright as that lava lamp collecting dust in your attic.Do I like this show?I da doo run run.

4-0 out of 5 stars A Trip Down Memory Lane!
I enjoyed being able to see Shaun Cassidy sing again. It brought back precious memories. The Hardy Boys was my favorite show as a child. It's sometimes hard to believe that over 20 years have passed since that time. If you like Shaun's singing, this is the video for you!It has differentsongs, including Da Doo Ron Ron, That's Rock 'N Roll, and Holiday (which Ihad forgotten about and hadn't heard since I was a child). It's a greatvideo for Cassidy fans everywhere!

4-0 out of 5 stars A must for Shaun Cassidy fans!
If you've seen the 70's series, you know that they all look pretty cheesy in the light of a 90's day. But if you love cheese, and you love Shaun Cassidy, this one is a must-have, because it's one of the handful ofepisodes in which Shaun sings! This one features "Da Doo RonRon", "That's Rock and Roll", as well as chunks of"Holiday" and "Wanna Be With You". I take off one starjust because of the over-all cheese factor. Otherwise, it's a keeper! ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars This Tape Has Good Episodes But Getting The Complete First Season DVD is Better!
I watched This show when I was a young girl when it was first on TV and I had a crush on Shaun Cassidy. This tape has good episodes but now that this show is on DVD it is better to get that instead. The first season Of The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mystery Show is now on DVD!

5-0 out of 5 stars I agree, The Hardy Boys mysteries need to be on DVD
The Hardy Boy Mysteries (all three seasons ) need to be released on DVD. The first season was good , but the next two were really great. I remember that I couldn't wait for Sunday night to watch the show. I was sooo disapointed when Nancy Drew was on instead. My favorites were the Mystery of King Tut's Tomb,The Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew meet Dracula and Search for Atlantis. I do hope we can see these wonderful memories again!!

5-0 out of 5 stars The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries belong on DVD!
Here is another intelligent show that brings back a ton of fond memories! This episode, "Wipe Out", and ALL the other episodes of the "Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries" starring Shaun Cassidy, Parker Stevenson, and Pamela Sue Martin/Janet Johnson, belong on DVD!Shaun and Parker as Joe and Frank Hardy brought humor and warmth to their brotherly roles; and the intrepid Nancy Drew was fiercely independent and a perfect role model for young women. Of course this version of the "Hardy Boys" was enhanced by Shaun's singing - and "Wipe Out" featured him singing not his own tunes but the music of "The Beach Boys". This series also featured a memorable ensemble of guest stars including the late Rick Nelson ("The Flickering Torch Mystery" with great concert footage), Lorne Green, Patrick MacNee, Melanie Griffith, Paul Williams, Ray Milland, Valerie Bertinelli, Maren Jensen, Anne Lockhart, and a host of others. And let's not forget Edmund Gilbert who, in my mind, will always be "Fenton Hardy".Today's young tv viewers (and the rest of us, too!) need to get re-acquainted with Nancy, Frank, and Joe!Let's see this complete series on DVD SOON! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Frank and Joe on Safari
Frank and Joe did a lot of traveling during the second season of The Hardy Boys, and this episode finds them in Kenya. Someone is poaching, and a local official (a member of the Masai tribe and one of the many old friends of Fenton Hardy who the boys run into during the series) is convinced the culprit is Trevor Masters, an old-style "white hunter" who now leads camera safaris. Frank and Joe join the safari and stay at Masters' house, where Frank romances Sarah Masters, played by Anne Lockhart. The clues accumulate slowly, and the boys are handicapped in their search by the long-held animosities and alliances among the local community. Not everyone is as they seem, and Frank and Joe must bring some personal mysteries to light before they can figure out who is slaughtering animals.4-0 out of 5 stars Good, but not the best
This is not a bad episode, but as I said, not one of the more outstanding ones either. If falls sort of to the right of middle-of-the-road. It relies more on personal conflict and tension rather than fast-paced actionfor interest, so those of you hoping for gleaming knives and ruthlesskillers, this is not your best choice. Some of its more outstandingqualities are witty dialogue, and of course the inevitable romanticinterest, which was better done in this one than in some others I've seen. And yes, there is a scene in which the boys get shot at.Overall, thisshow lacks a little spice, but if you're the kind who likes it mild go forit! ... Read more

Frank and Joe are scuba diving when they are hit by a small crate that's been thrown off a boat. Attempts to return the contents - a statue of the goddess Kwan Yin - to its rightful owner turn out to be more complicated than they expect. 4-0 out of 5 stars Decent episode;lots of Lisa Eilbacher
The Jade Kwan Yin mystery is pretty standard, classic Hardy Boys. Not as good as Witches Hollow, but better than many others.Good acting by the guest stars(again, better than usual) and a fair number of scenes withthe divine Lisa Eilbacher...the only unbelievable part is the ending, wherethe jade figurine allegedly has been holding gems - curiously, the gemshave made no noise during all the handling of the statuette. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars This Is A Good Tape But Now That The Complete First Season Is Out I Think That Is Better!
Nancy Drew was one of my favorite TV shows when I was a young girl in the 70's. Based on the mystery books for young readers by Carolyn Keene it is about a teenager named Nancy Drew who has a knack for solving mysteries and crimes and stars Pamela Sue Martin (Dynasty) as Nancy. The Secret of the Whispering Walls is my favorite episode and is about Nancy's two elderly aunts who live in an old mansion where some strange events are happening and Nancy with the help of her friends, a boy named Ned and a girl named George investigates. Nancy Drew is now finally available on DVD along with the Hardy Boys in the complete first season of The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries and as good as this tape is I think it is better to get that complete first season DVD instead. They actually combinded episodes of The Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew and alternared each week but unfortunately they later dropped the Nancy Drew epsiodes.

4-0 out of 5 stars Groovy Nancy
In 1977, Nancy Drew donned her double-knit pantsuit and set out with her friends George Fayne and Ned Nickerson to solve her very first mystery on television. Millions of girls sat spell-bound in front of their television sets, anxiously waiting to see if Nancy could solve the puzzling incidents in her hometown, River Heights USA.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the Best
I have 4 Nancy Drew movies. I think this was like 3rd or 4th one I watched and It's one of my favs. It has a great plot. You'd never guess who the culprit was. I thought it was someone else. I was wrong. Great twist at the end!

4-0 out of 5 stars One of the better Nancy Drew episodes
It's too bad there aren't more of these. You have to like the title, as the Nancy Drew book series has always been written by a succession of ghostwriters. Pamela Sue Martin is great as Nancy: she does a good job of being inquisitive and persistent without being irritating, and she handles annoying characters with finesse. When the mystery author she is accompanying on a cruise gets cryptic death threats, nothing can be proven so of course it's up to Nancy to solve the case. They do a nice job of making it spooky, like when Nancy and the author are walking the deck at night through fog, searching for the source of an eerie, echoing voice. At anotherpoint, the ship is threatened by a tidal wave. With Pamela having done "Poseidon Adventure," the director must have had to resist an impulse to have her look at the camera and say, "Not again." I also like how they keep you guessing who the culprit is from among their shipmates, unlike some other episodes where the audience knows what's going on before Nancy figures it out. It's fun to relive the days when, for a very short time, creepy-but-innocent entertainment featured not an older gal like Angela Lansbury, but a beautiful young woman.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Love Boat was never this Dangerous
Ever Sunday night I would rush home to watch the Hardy Boys/Nancy DrewMysteries. Parker Stevenson and shaun Cassidy were the Hardys,Pamela SuMartin protrayed our favorite girl Detecive Nancy. This video "NancyDrew and the Ghostwriter's Cruise" is the best in the series. Nancyand her friend George are traveling with world famous mystery writer JohnAddams and his niece Cathy aboard a cruise ship Nancy soon discover thistrip is not going to be all fun in the sun.Te writer soon becomes thevictim of several attempts on his life. Someone wants Mr. Addams to live athis first novel and rewrite the ending so there is no sequel.I alwayedenjoyed reading the Nancy Drew books and the television series was able tobring life to this exciting and intelligent detevice character. Pamela SueMartin is great in the role and the supporting cast are also wondeful. Buythis tape and you will not regrat it. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars On my October 31st list of videos to watch
Buck Rogers has always been about lasers and high tech up to this point, and then everything changed(for the better).Yeah the lasers and high tech are still there(that's mandantory Buck) but the mystical becomes a part of these later series(80-81 I am guessing). Much like Dr. Who at this time period, Buck Rogers, an otherwise lighthearted show of a wise cracking Space Cowboy, becomes a hybrid of funny and downright grave. This takes place on into the Hawk series(which is not availibe except for the Guardian)This Vampire sci-fi thriller is the best of Buck, I think. It shows you can make a scary set with modern settings as a darkened spaceship corridor. The soundtrack and camera angles(even in computer rooms) was downright creepy.Wilma's(Erin Grey) personality was quite a bit different from her usual matter-of-fact self.(nice outfit) 5-0 out of 5 stars The Best (?) Vampire Flick Ever!!
Alright, maybe not.But like one of the other commentators, I was scared stiff the first time I watched it, curled up beside my dad on the couch.Until I purchased this tape last year, the only memory I had was of Wilma (Erin Gray) tilting her head back as the Vorvon (vampire) drained her essence.Throughout my childhood, teenage years, college and even now, when I think of a scary vampire, I imagine some guy with long fingernails sticking them against my neck.4-0 out of 5 stars Space Vampire - Why Not?
I remember the day with startling clarity - January 3, 1980...the day I became a man.Okay, a little history for you sci-fi afficionados:Before there was Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, or Star Trek:Fill-in-the-Blank...there was Buck Rogers.'Buck Rogers', and it's sister show - the superior 'Battlestar Galactica' - were the only thing going for science fiction on television in 1979 and 1980.I was just a boy, a wee lad, still in my jammies, and I loved science fiction with a vengeance.Even at 11 years of age, I knew that 'Buck Rogers' was sub-par sci-fi...but it had one thing going for it that no other science fiction series of it's time had...It had Erin Gray. The three things that best defined 'Buck Rogers' as a series - and of my oncoming momentum into puberty - were:1)Erin Gray2)Spandex3)Erin GrayFrankly, the rest of the show - the Starfighters, the laser blasts, the re-used spaceship models from 'Galactica', Gary Coleman...you could have shoved them all into a nuclear reaction and STILL the only thing that would have mattered would have been Erin Gray.Yep, I was hooked.Which brings us to January 3, 1980 - the day 'Space Vampire' premiered.Okay, it was not that good - but Erin Gray gets turned into a Vorvon (i.e. Vampire) and goes all sultry...and my little life was changed forever.Trust me.Rent it, buy it, or tape it.You'll understand. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Birthdays Should Never be this Exciting!
For those of you who are not acquainted with the Buck Rogers series, here's a short rundown. In 1987, NASA launched the last deep space probe, captained by William "Buck" Rogers (Gil Gerard). In a "freak mishap," the ship is blown off its trajectory into an orbit that freezes the life support systems, and returns him to Earth 500 years later. The series takes Buck, along with the gorgeous Col. Wilma Deering (Erin Gray) and friends on many interesting adventures throughout space.Younger sci-fi fans may be disappointed with the special effects and simple story lines. However, for those of us who grew up in the 80s, they can still be as exciting and fun as they were when we were kids.5-0 out of 5 stars A Great Episode
This is a really great episode.I really like the interplay between Buck And Wilma. Not to mention what a delight Mel Blanc is as the voice of Twiki. Buy this you'll will really enjoy it. ... Read more
