5-0 out of 5 stars AWSOME MOVIE
I agree with every one else ... RAD ROCKS and there are probably about 100,000 super suky dvd's out there ... come dvd converter studios ... what's up !!!!!!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars RAD
I bought the VHS RAD not too long ago and I had to pay a little more then I wanted but it was well worth it for my childhood favorite movie. I would watch that movie over and over again with my friends when I was a kid. They need to put it out on DVD, every month I look for it to be out on DVD and every month I am disappointed. I don't think they would have a problem selling it on DVD because everyone remebers the bike dancing scene. The movie is a classic!!! The VHS is great but I want a DVD, I am sure the VHS could be copy to CD but that would not do it justice it deserves to be re-released and digitaly enhanced and such by the studio. Look at all the other crap release on DVD. It is just is not fair to let a classic movie like RAD fade away.

5-0 out of 5 stars AWSOME, WONDERFUL, GREAT STUNTS
I have been waiting for this movie to come out on DVD for years now.You can't even buy it on VHS unless someone is putting it up for auction on E-bay.The production company should hurry up and put this compelling movie on DVD and get it over with.Quite sure I am not the only one who wants to purchase. This is a wonderful movie for kids as well as adults of any age.My son and brother loves this movie, especially the bike stunts. This is truly a movie to have in your personal library.Hope the production company decides to put on DVD very soon. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars A Romantic Sleeper
Crossing Delancey tells the story of two people from different socio-economic backgrounds who meet and stumble to try to form a relationship.Izzy is a young professional who meets Sam through her Jewish grandmother's matchmaker. When Izzy learns that her "match" sells pickles she's quick to try and hide her date from her friends. She's also quick to judge.Meanwhile, Sam has wholeheartedly fallen for Izzy, oblivious to the fact that she's a little embarrassed about his job.Can she overcome her preconceived notions about the man?

5-0 out of 5 stars One of my top ten favorites
Crossing Delancey is one of the most intelligent, sweet, REAL love stories ever. Made a Peter Riegert fan of me... he makes all the "pretty boy" protagonists look shallow and plastic.I have given away two copies of the VHS version, and am rapidly wearing out the third.I can see a definite need for a DVD.
5-0 out of 5 stars Must Release DVD
This movie has You've Got Mail and Sleepless in Seattle beat, without a doubt. (While You've Got Mail was fine, Sleepless in Seattle was rather contrived, with wall-to-wall romantic music, which for me made it not at all appealing, as much as I like Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks.)

Editorial Review

Oddball scientist Fred Z. Randall (Harland Williams) is nobody's idea of an astronaut. But he turns out to be NASA's only hope when the first manned mission to Mars comes up one man short. So it's up to Fred, who instantly rubs the ship's commander (William Sadler) and specialist (Jessica Lundy) the wrong way--but makes eerily good friends with the ship's chimp. A movie whose rude, gas-laced sense of humor will appeal to kids; adults may also get a few chuckles out of Canadian funnyman Williams, who does countless impressions and makes endless faces and funny noises. Think of him as the poor man's Jim Carrey. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars You hairy little bed-stealer! This needs to be DVD-released NOW!!!
Rocket Man is another favorite of mine. Recently, UPN teased us by showing it on TV. Got my hopes up that the next time I was at Best Buy or any other DVD retailer that I would finally get my hands on this gem. But no. PLEASE IN THE NAME OF ALL THAT IS HOLY, RELEASE THIS ON DVD! To anyone curious about viewing this movie, it's great fun and shouldn't be missed. Harland Williams is absolutely hilarious as a computer whiz who winds up getting sent on a mission to Mars. It's a Disney movie so prepare for a tidy ending as usual, but you'll be laughing the whole way through this journey, especially once they are on Mars. I don't want to give away any more and spoil it for you all, but if you think Williams is funny in Half Baked or even in his bit part as the serial killer in There's Something About Mary just to name a few, he's an absolute riot in this. For now, you'll have to rent/buy on VHS, but let's hope that this makes its way onto DVD soon!

Editorial Review

Missionaries travel to the Brazilian rain forest and make a mess of everything. What else is new? Actually, plenty in this dark but beautifully realized adaptation of Peter Matthiessen's well-regarded novel, directed by Hector Babenco. Aidan Quinn, Daryl Hannah, Kathy Bates, and John Lithgow play the Americans who travel to the Brazilian interior in an effort to do some good. But their definitions of good vary wildly; Bates and Lithgow are old-fashioned puritans who want to convert the heathens to Christianity and remove all traces of their own culture. Quinn and Hannah are more spiritually minded, hoping to make a connection and a cultural exchange with the Indians they encounter. In the end, they're all delusional, trapped in their own preconceptions. Downbeat but magical in its way, with sterling performances all around and amazing scenery, to say the least. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Outstanding in the "Fields"
I too have been waiting for this film on DVD..I have read the book twice and wholeheatedly endorse everything the director and amazing actors submitted themselves to,,(heat, general lack of amenities etc ) to bring us this absolutely great flick. I also love the similarly placed Aguirra Wrath of God,,what ever HACK wrote the New Yorker Summary as it appears above, should be suspended by his thumbs orbetter yet, whatever,,he missed the point totally,,saying the mid 60 attitudes have changed,,HA! Stupid would-be reviewer would probably make a similar statement about Pride & Prejudice or War and Peace,,buddy,we are talking universals here some things never change not will they ever,,,I wish Amazon would remove the big blurb described it does no good whatsoever,,having said my piece I will retreat and brood,,

4-0 out of 5 stars Waiting for DVD
This is one of the best movies I've had a privilege to view. But waiting for the DVD has been forever, where is it? When do we get a chance to see this happening. Thank you

5-0 out of 5 stars Bates gives incredible performance!
This is a 1991 film, but don't miss it! It's a rather long tale, but you won't be bored a single minute. Bates gives a stellar performance as the wife of a missionary sent to convert the 'jungle natives'. When the mission goes very wrong, she goes mad. Berenger plays a native american who flies them in on a plane, and after he sees the bravery of a jungle native, strives to return to his 'wild heritage' by heading out to join the tribe. It's a great tale of how horribly wrong things can go when the white world tries to force their ways upon a primitive culture. It's a very deep, passionate, historic movie that warrants being watched at least twice. All the actors seem to 'feel' the importance of its message and give their roles one-hundred percent. Bravo!

The 1951 John Huston classic, set in Africa during World War I, garnered Humphrey Bogart an Oscar for his role as a hard-drinking riverboat captain in Africa, who provides passage for a Christian missionary spinster (Katharine Hepburn). Taking an instant, mutual dislike to one another, the two endure rough waters, the presence of German soldiers, and their own bickering to finally fall into one another's arms. This is classic Huston material--part adventure, part quest--but this time with a pair of characters who'd all but given up on happiness. 5-0 out of 5 stars African Queen deserves royal treatment....on DVD!!!!!!!!!
This movie is way looooong over due to be put on DVD. I find it amazing how some of the crapiest movies get released on DVD, yet this wonderful gem of a movie has yet to see the light of day on
5-0 out of 5 stars Should be rated "G" not Unrated.
This movie should have a "G" rating becauseit's a classic film from 1952. I saw this movie in 1990 when I was 10. I liked it then and, I like it now. There's nothing explicit in this movie at all. That's why it should be rated "G".

5-0 out of 5 stars Undiminished Classic Carries the Unshakable Triumvirate of Bogart, Hepburn and Huston at Their Peak
The reputation of this deserved classic rests primarily on the shoulders of master director John Huston and his two legendary stars, Humphrey Bogart and Katharine Hepburn. The story itself, penned by Huston and James Agee (with uncredited help from Peter Viertel) based on a novel by C.S. Forester, is a two-character high adventure that moves its narrative in a rather contrived manner. Yet, the resulting 1951 film sparkles in a burnished aura of Hollywood lore, as Clint Eastwood saw fit to make a film about the production itself with 1990's "White Hunter, Black Heart" and Hepburn herself wrote an entertaining memoir 36 years after the fact with the seemingly apt title, "The Making of the African Queen: Or How I Went to Africa With Bogart, Bacall and Huston and Almost Lost My Mind". Between Bogart's apparent boozing, Huston's big game obsessions, Hepburn's idiosyncrasies and the challenging African jungle, it must have been quite an unpredictable set.

C'mon when are these people going to wise up and release this fantastic movie on DVD.
5-0 out of 5 stars Angus: A great movie! Needs a DVD release!
"Angus" is a movie about a shy 14 year old who doesn't fit in. He is humiliated and picked on by others at school, and spends most of his time hanging out with his friend, another outsider named Troy, and his grandfather, and dreaming of being with the school's hottest cheerleader, Melissa Lefevre. One day, his dreams come true, somewhat, when he is chosen to dance with Melissa at the Winter Ball. However, the set up was planned by Melissa's boyfriend, and Angus' arch nemesis, Rick Sanford. Angus decides to finally stand up to Rick, and lets him know that he prefers to be different.

ok, so yeah. This movie is like.... awesome! I was in florida on vacation when my mother first saw it and she told me on the phone that I had to see it because all she thought while watching the movie was that it was my life. honestly, anyone who has ever been the pet whipping boy of their school should see this movie. hell, anyone wh ever bullied someone because they were different should see it, they may learn a lesson from it. from the beginning it grabs your attention and holds it all the way through the end. I really wish they would hurry up with the dvd release of it. the soundtrack is phenominal. I still get funny looks when people are looking through my cd case and find the CD with a blowup doll on it. lol. one song that I l;oved in the film, however is not one the soundtrack. for any of you looking for this song it's by peter gabriel and it's called the washing of the water. but aside from the soundtrack. 5-0 out of 5 stars Why no DVD of this fabulous film?
I keep looking for Alice to be released on DVD.I have given the VHS as a gift twice and still have a much watched copy for myself.Get out the kleenex for this wonderful story.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great!
A friend mentioned this movie to me.I had never heard of it, but was glad to be able to find it at my library. After watching it and loving it, I was thrilled when I found a used VHS copy in a second hand shop. This is one of those movies that can be pulled out and watched at least every year.I first viewed it over the course of four evenings and each time, I couldn't wait to see what was going to happen with Jean and Joe.At the beginning of the movie, Jean is on the island of Malaya with her brother and a group of English workers. The Japanese overtake the island and cart off the men, apparently to a work camp. They force the women and children of the group to walk from place to place with accompanying soldiers. We see the woman at times afraid, at times bold, on the verge of giving up, yet determined to keep on.We see them sick, hungry and dirty. We watch some of them die. This is where the movie is the most engrossing. The characters are well developed and I almost felt as if I was marching right along with them.I came to love the character of Jean--she's smart and determined and also has a lot of compassion and a sense of humor. One of the best parts of the movie is when this rag tag group of women and children meet up with two Australian prisoners of war. There's an immediate attraction between Jean and one of the prisoners, Joe, and his energy infuses Jean with new life during the short time they are together. After the war, Jean inherits a large amount of money. She has never forgotten Joe and after much time and effort on both their parts, Joe and Jean get together again--this time in Australia.Jean uses her determination and smarts to develops some businesses, all the while wondering if she can make it on the outback.Joe loves Jean, but wonders himself whether or not he can ask her to live the life he loves.Their romance is appealing--they are both strong, independent people who have a passion for life and for each other. If you appreciate a long, thoughtful story with interesting and likeable characters, I would highly recommend this wonderful film.

5-0 out of 5 stars For Your Princess
It's so wonderful to live in a time when Disney's strange behavior of taking their classics off the market can be circumvented by great Internet marketers like Amazon. I was able to buy this 5 Star Disney Princess classic recently for my young princess through one of Amazon's third-party sellers. And without that opportunity, my little princess may have outgrown Snow White by the time Disney released it again.
5-0 out of 5 stars Sleeping Beauty Awakens!
This DVD changed my opinion of Disney's Sleeping Beauty.Since the story has been summarized elsewhere, my review will focus mainly on the DVD itself.I had never been much of a fan previously and viewed this as a sort of Snow White and Cinderella also-ran, although I did love the gorgeous, sweeping adaption of Tchaikovsky's ballet, with "I wonder" and especially "Once Upon a Dream" being among Disney's finest and most transportative musical pieces. The difference between this and prior releases of Sleeping Beauty (indeed, of many Disney movies) is that the digital restoration truly enhances the film possibly beyond what, as one reviewer put it, may actually have been experienced by the original theatrical audience.
5-0 out of 5 stars This movie is excellent.
One thing I most love about this movie, is the music. Slepping Beauty has songs from the ballet. I watch this movie whenever I can. Groundbreaking on several counts, not the least of which was aninnovative use of animation and stereophonic sound, this ambitiousDisney feature has lost nothing to time since its release in 1940.Classical music was interpreted by Disney animators, resulting insurreal fantasy and playful escapism. Leopold Stokowski and thePhiladelphia Orchestra provided the music for eight segments by thecomposers Tchaikovsky, Moussorgsky, Stravinsky, Beethoven, Ponchielli,Bach, Dukas, and Schubert. Not all the sequences were created equally, but a few are simply glorious, such as "Night on Bald Mountain," "TheSorcerer's Apprentice," and "The Nutcracker Suite." The animationranges from subtly delicate to fiercely bold. The screen bursts withcolor and action as creatures transmute and convention is thrust aside. The painstaking detail and saturated hues are unique to this film, unmatched even by more advanced technology. 5-0 out of 5 stars ARTISTRY IN ANIMATION, MUSIC &THE COMPUTER ALL PUT TO FANTASTIC EFFECT
IN A NUTSHELL: LET FANTASIA SPEAK FOR ITSELF & IT SPEAKS MAGICALLY
5-0 out of 5 stars Not original but still worth having
Yes it is true that Fantasia has been edited, but that is because Disney had to edit something that by today's standards would be socially unacceptable. for the time the movie was made (1942) it would be a different situation. I agree with their decision to edit those parts out, although you can find the scenes on the internet, and they are interesting to watch, but I can agree that they were edited for good reason. and it is true, just because a movie is edited doesn't mean that those parts weren't there, but if you want to own Fantasia on DVD, then this is worth buying. the only difference from the VHS version to note is, the narration has been re-recorded, and though it is not the original narration, it is still good I only noted 1 or 2 differences in the narration from the original. this is the best (socially acceptable) copy of Fantasia you will ever find, those of you who are looking for the original version (ie 1942) you are out of luck, every re-release of this movie since the 1970's has been edited, and unless you want celluloid film you'll just have to get this.

5-0 out of 5 stars The all-time classic!
Fantasia is the all-time classic animated movie. Where to begin with this one? The animation is incredible, with stunning artwork, effects, and a huge palet of colors. The storytelling is top-notch, with excellent pacing and story development. Using classical music as a storytelling tool is A LOT harder than you may think, and the Disney animators pulled it off brilliantly. Each segment of Fantasia is its own self-contained movie, and each one is a winner. Even the weakest segment (the first one) is still an outstanding example of innovation (jawdropping for the 1940's). Other than the first segment, all stand up perfectly to repeated viewings. Fantasia is an AMAZING movie, which will entertain adults as much as children (a rarity). It is fitting in an ironic way, then, that Fantasia was also Disney's biggest flop when it was released in 1940. Oftentimes truly outstanding works take many years to be be recognized as the masterpieces they are (Wizard Of Oz, Its A Wonderful Life).

3-0 out of 5 stars Imitation of Laff
A lot of people love this movie and so do I--but probably not for the same reason. Not for nothing was this the last gasp of the Ross Hunter tearjerkers in the "Imitation of Life"/"Back Street" mode. By the mid-Sixties, this type of hokum was far more comic than melodramatic--just look at the ridiculous casting, which includes a 40-something Lana Turner (who'd just played Sandra Dee's mother/stepmother in her last few pictures) as a young bride. . . having her first child! Surrounding her with inappropriate actors like bland John Forstyhe (as her middle-aged ambitious "young" husband) and veteran Constance Bennett (who somehow looks more like Lana's younger sister than her mother-in-law) didn't help realism. Cheesy production values and anacronisms (all the women are dressed in the height of Sixties middlebrow fashions--in scenes taking place thirty years earlier!) just add to the fun. A real howl, especially when an Oscar-hungry Turner goes to pot in the final reels. You'll cry alright--with laughter.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the Greats!
If you're looking for a rainy afternoon or late night tearjerker, bursting at the seams with impeccable style, glamour and delicious disaster, this is your film. Only Lana Turner can deliver such wistful heartbreak in the finest gowns and jewels one instant, and next be the tragic victim of misfortune, suffering as only those who fall from on high can know.To call it melodrama would be an insult, this is classic cinema, with Hollywood royalty.

3-0 out of 5 stars A Great Teaching tool
This movie has everlasting usefulness as a teaching tool for kids AND adults. It should be put on DVD and marketed vigorously. It teaches values, work ethic, appreciation and much much more
5-0 out of 5 stars We Love It
I've never read the book but we love the movie. I've always wanted to read the book but never found time, not much of a reader. I still intend to read it someday but until then this really is an enjoyable movie. I find unrealistic bloopers in movies about how people would really act in any give situation and I have always felt comfortable with the realisticness of this movie. Love it.

5-0 out of 5 stars A CHUCK JONES ANIMATION CELEBRATION!=-)
What to say?Chuck Jones has created a real bona fide classic which ought to be shared by ALL age groups as well as cartoon fanatics like myself.(That is, whether or not you have kids in both the former and latter.)

5-0 out of 5 stars I must echo the rave reviews.
This achingly insightful film is one of the most thought provoking stories
5-0 out of 5 stars Astonishing tale
This superb work of film art will bring you to tears though presented almost as a documentary. As a man with no need of earthly "beliefs" and a skeptic of most of such stories, I still have an open mind to any idea. This movie reeks of honesty. No doubt because of excellent performances, especially of Ellen Burstyn who can't be more believable, and Sam Shepard who reflects what happens when people can't see outside their framed beliefs.Powerful drama.
5-0 out of 5 stars Bootleg DVD copy
For those who are sick of waiting for this great film to become available on DVD, I have found a few bootleg copies on ebay recently. They are transfered from tape and not in WS and no extras, but for those who have worn out their VHS tapes, it's better than nothing! ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars I Don't See Why People Like This
I'm sorry, but I really don't! It's a style called Celtic Drama, which means it's a combination of stories w/o words and traditional Irish Dancing.
5-0 out of 5 stars A Dream Come True After Eurovision--"RIVERDANCE"
With tremendous applause and a standing ovation at the 1994 Eurovision's 7 minute intermission; Michael Flatley, Jean Butler, and an Irish troupe of dancers tapped their way into the record books. It was all that was talked about that night long ago. "Riverdance" was born soon after.
5-0 out of 5 stars The Best of All the Riverdance Shows
I have seen this particular show several times on video that I rented a few years back. I have never been able to find it anywhere since, in any video store or anywhere else. I have also seen the other Riverdance shows done in New York and Geneva, but this show is by far, the BEST Riverdance show ever! The collaboration of the Riverdance Company, Bill Whelan, Michael Flatley and everyonelse that was involved in this show is just pure magic! As much as I have enjoyed seeing the other Riverdance shows and Michael Flatley's Lord of the Dance -- there just seems to be something very special about this show! Hope you will get it reproduced very soon! ... Read more

Editorial Review

Winner of the Academy Award for best picture of 1989, this gracefully moving drama, adapted from the hit play by Alfred Uhry, chronicles the 25- year friendship between a stubborn, aging Southern widow (Jessica Tandy) and her loyal chauffeur (Morgan Freeman). At first, the self-sufficient Miss Daisy is reluctant to accept the services of a chauffeur, but Hoke is quiet, wise, and tolerant, and as the years pass the unlikely friends develop a deep mutual respect and admiration. Tandy deservedly won the Oscar for her sassy and sensitive performance, and Freeman earned an Oscar nomination for bringing quiet depth and integrity to his memorable role. Ironically, director Bruce Beresford (Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars I'm loving Miss Daisy
My wife raved about this movie for months before I actually sat down and watched it, and after the credits began to roll I think I enjoyed it more than she did. What I expected to bore me to tears in actuality kept me well entertained for its entire duration. The story of an elderly stubborn southern woman named Daisy and her chauffeur Hoke rose from ashes of mediocrity and became a brilliantly scripted and acted film about learning to accept people for who they are on the inside, not on the outside.Jessica Tandy is brilliant as Daisy. When she crashes her car her son Boolie (Aykroyd) makes it known she can no longer drive and hires a chauffeur for her. That chauffeur is quite and well mannered Hoke (Freeman), a black man who wins over Daisy's heart, and ours too, with his mild manner and caring concern for his employer. The chemistry between the two of them is so spot on it makes the entire film a delight.I'm not surprised it won for best picture, I'm delighted!

5-0 out of 5 stars Driving Miss Daisy
I'm 15 years behind most of you, but I've seen it now. It's wonderful. Jessica Tandy and Morgan Freeman. This film covers 15 or 20 years in the life of Miss Daisy, beginning with her wrecking the car. Her son hires a chauffeur against her wishes. Etc. Dan Ackroyd shows us that he can act. After GHOSTBUSTERS and BLUES BROTHERS I had my doubts.
4-0 out of 5 stars Driving Miss Daisy (Special Edition)
Finally a decent, dirt-speck free, clean print of this fine film. Also includes a few new bonus extras on the making of the film, as well as interesting commentary by its director. It'll make you want to head south for a plate of fried green tomatoes! ... Read more

Editorial Review

Disney's first animated feature in CinemaScope is now available in widescreen presentations on video, and it is definitely good to get the whole picture. One of the studio's most original and charming movies, the 1955 film tells the story of a rakish, street-smart dog named Tramp, who helps an aristocratic pooch named Lady out of some trouble and then commences a romance with her. Sweet, funny scenes abound, and the combination of innocence and sophistication would have done well in a live-action picture. Peggy Lee cowrote the songs and provides the voice of the Siamese cats in one of the film's best-known musical sequences. This newly restored version spruces up both sonics and visuals, and a letterbox version is available. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Lady and the Tramp....Going into the Vault!
Disney has announced that in January the Lady and the Tramp DVD will be put into the vault!

5-0 out of 5 stars The Most Romantic of All Disney Films
I fell in love with this movie when I was little, back in 1955 when "Lady and the Tramp" first came to the theaters, and am probably one of the few who can actually remember seeing the promo show, "The Story of Dogs" on the old Disneyworld TV series from the early 50's.I actually had the rare privildge of being taken twice! To this day, it remains my all-time favorite Disney film, favorite dog film, and continues to charm, amuse, and move me to tears.
