5-0 out of 5 stars A CrAzY, FUNNY, COOL REBEL 70'S ROCK MOVIE!!!!!!!!
MAN, I ALWAYS HATED SCHOOL!!!! I glad that in this movie the students TEAR IT APART!!!! and not only that!, the kids smoke pot, smell coke and they invite THE RAMONES to their school so they can "ROCK N' BLOW"!!!!
4-0 out of 5 stars would have given it five stars but it's non-anamorphic!
the box clearly says anamorphic widescreen; that's why I bought it to play on my new widescreen TV. it's not, it's non-anamorphic letterbox so instead of it filling the whole screen, it's now a postage stamp in the middle of my screen. what a gyp! how bout it Buena Vista, where's the enhanced widescreen disc?
4-0 out of 5 stars 4 Stars for Cultishness and Charm!
I watched this movie on UMD on my PSP, (not the DVD version) and I thoroughly enjoyed it.It was a great movie, and had a lot of charisma and charm, albeit lacking a bit in production. But that didn't bother me.Sure, the acting is sub-par, and just above a Porno plot, but how can you overlook the cuteness of PJ Soles. What warm blooded american male or female for that much, can resist her sexy charms as she seduces the hearts of the Ramones.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Reason WKRP is Still Not on DVD
The reason is simple.Money.Copyright laws have changed in recent years and this requires that each and every song that is used in a particular episode, even if the song only played for a few seconds, must be licensed. This takes time and, more importantly money. It is quite possible that, in order to get complete episodes on DVD with the same music could make a DVD set prohibitively expensive for most people and thus it will be priced out of the market. They could replace some of this music with cheaper, generic tunes, but when that has been done in syndicated airings of WKRP longtime fans have revolted.
1-0 out of 5 stars Why is WKRP in Cincinnati but not on DVD?
And why can't we get unadulterated shows? No more music-edited versions. And all of them, not a limited collection, just like all the other great (and many far less than great) TV shows of the past! Why?Why? Why?This was a great show; give it and the many, many fans the treatement we all deserve! ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Second Review - First OneCensored
I didn't realize that referring to a part of male anatomy would be considered inappropriate. Flesh Gordon, after all, IS an adult movie! I wrote a legitimate review, asking about the deletion of a very funny scene from the film. Very well.
5-0 out of 5 stars flesh gorden 2
this movie ROCKS!!!! for it has some of the sexiest sequences to ever grace a movie.the{DOG PEOPLE}were my favourite for they were quite {SEXY!!!}.this movie also has some very nice chioce in sexy weman!!!.and a couple of sexy fighting sequences as well as a funny and weird story making it an attractive movie worth collecting.although at times may seem a bit stretched out between the good parts.the fighting sequences and nudity are what i like best.

1-0 out of 5 stars Horrible "sequel"
Like another reviewer, I loved the original Flesh Gordon (not to mention the genuine article, the Flash Gordon serials) and was thrilled to see a Flesh Gordon 2 had been made.No comparison. Not even close. It is just awful.Flesh Gordon 1 is funny, campy and loaded with interesting characters, spaceships and special effects.Flesh Gordon 2 (aside from the opening with cute, toyish spacehips) is so bad, I would be embarrassed to show it to anyone.I expected sex and nudity, of which there is practically none.I expected adventure, of which there IS none. But what this movie unfortunately DOES have is a rather lengthy scatology scene.(Look it up in the dictionary)It's endless, not funny, and eventually, uncomfortable to watch.I hated this movie as much as I loved Flesh Gordon 1.In fact, I threw Flesh Gordon 2 out--I was afraid to give it to anyone for fear they would think I was "into" such things... ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Sam finds its a whole new world when he leaps into Samantha
Sam leaps into a woman in "What Price Gloria? - October 16, 1961" (Episode #13, October 25, 1989).Samantha Stormer is a gorgeous secretary for an automobile company, which means he has to deal with not only being sexually harassed by his boss (John Calvin) and a suicide attempt by his roommate (Jean Segal), but the effect Samantha's looks are having on Al.Not a classic episode of "Quantum Leap," but certainly above average as Sam gets to see how the other half lives. As always, the chief charm is Scott Bakula's completely convincing performance.Written by Deborah Pratt, this episode was directed by Alan J. Levi.

5-0 out of 5 stars I think Sam's first leap into a woman was funny.
I felt it was funny to see Sam's first forayinto a woman's body, although I didn't thinkSamantha looked that pretty when they showed her in the mirror. But the episode itself was good. September 7, 1999-

3-0 out of 5 stars Interesting to see Sam's first leap into a woman.
I thought it was funny to see the first episode where Sam leaped into a woman, although I think the actress who played Samantha's image in the mirror could have been prettier if the plot was partly about Al's reactionto Sam.- September 7, 1999 ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars There were better ones .
My advise is to avoid this episode . It is quite a surprise they released it on VHS and with a price tag of [price]!!! There were a whole lot better ones and with the same amount of money you can get your hands on one of the best (double!) episodes of the series called "The leap home" ...5-0 out of 5 stars A great episode from a great show!
Why this show was cancelled is beyond me. Scott Bakula and Dean Stockwell are a great team and together create real emotional depth as Dr. Sam Beckett and Al Calavicci. The science of the show is not as riveting to me as is the camaraderie between the two leads, who basically carried the show. Bakula is an actor of great versatility and style, and he plays Sam with a sweet befuddlement that is nowhere more apparent than this episode. Sam's body betrays him as he leaps into the developmentally disabled "Jimmy." He cannot seem to do anything right and it is desperately important that he not be sent back to the institution. Jimmy's sister-in-law grows more and more annoyed as Jimmy breaks plates and generally disrupts her house. Jimmy's brother and nephew accept him as he is, but Jimmy must prove himself to his brother's wife and does so in a heroic way. The usually-wisecracking Al shows a tender side as he pleads with Sam not to give up on Jimmy, giving us know a little more insight into his life.4-0 out of 5 stars Jimmy

1-0 out of 5 stars Didn't think it was believable
Sorry to disagree with the other reviewers, but I just didn't find this show believable. There is no Minnesota State and there isn't an NFL team called the Breakers. If you can't get the facts straight in the beginning how do you expect to win a viewers trust as the show moves on. And Jerry Van Dyke as a football coach? Was Don Knotts not available?

5-0 out of 5 stars Nothing stops Chuck
I would say this is the great Chuck Norris movie, no wait, the greatest movie of all-time except for one thing. And that is that all Chuck Norris movies are created equal and better then the movies like the Godfather, Schlinder's List, Back Door Sluts 9, and Braveheart combined.Chuck Norris is a much better actor then Tom Hanks and Marlon Brando because he knows karate.Hell Chuck Norris invented Karate as well as Judo, Kung Fu, and Hamster style Jap Slapping.Do yourself a favor and buy this movie so you can call yourself a man.And if your a woman buy this movie and pray Chuck Norris comes to your house and gets you pregnant.
5-0 out of 5 stars super silly and really thin in the plot, but i still like it for some reason
this is one of those movies you try not to lrt people know you have, a guilty pleasure that is so shameless an action movie that it never gives you to much time to think how dumb it gets sometimes.
5-0 out of 5 stars Beyond Words...
This movie can only be described as a bolt of pure heavenly energy blazing forth from the televesion screens of America to bless our eyes with its majesty. It is something that every man and woman must experience for themselves. 1-0 out of 5 stars what
This movie is totally confusing. The plot is pretty easy to follow, no problems there, but you're left confused as to why any of it should be happening and especially who you should be empathizing with(the answer apparently: no one).
1-0 out of 5 stars somebody stop the pain...
Irritating accents, implausible character motivation, and a script that is constantly pulling itself in opposite directions makes the viewer question how Meir Zarchi keeps a clear thought, let alone direct a 90-minute film...That's the feeling I got with "Don't Mess With My Sister!", a low-budget stinker that's riddled with bad writing, acting, direction, and just about everything else...Okay, Zarchi's previous (and only other) effort, "I Spit on Your Grave," was just as confused but more well-done on a technical level than this piece of junk. The exploitation elements are sadly missing (a single nude scene, and action so poorly directed it's laughable) and the film's self-important 'message' (forced marriages will make men snap and sleep with belly dancers!) will leave you groaning.

2-0 out of 5 stars Lightning does not strike twice for director Meir Zarchi
Seven years after his notorious success with "I Spit on Your Grave," writer-director Meir Zarchi made his second and final (to date) film, "Don't Mess with My Sister!"However, this sordid little tale of violence and revenge is just a pale imitation of the controversial exploitation classic.Steven (Joe Perce) meets up with Clara (Jeannine Lemay) and is forced by her bizarre family to get married.Of course, Steven wants to get out of this arrangement and that is when the bloody mayhem begins. But there is nothing here to get worked up about.Everything that made "I Spit on Your Grave" an effective example of raw cinema whose social value was at least debatable on several key levels is missing in "Don't Mess with My Sister!"No wonder it put the final nail in the coffin of Zarchi's film career. You have to admit the guy has achieved a sort of cinematic immortality with his other film, but only those with an intensely morbid sense of curiosity are going to want to check this one out (assuming they can even find it in the first place). ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Food for the Coen Bros
Yes! I agree with the Coen Bros references. This is a wonderful film. The Time Out film guide rightly says that this film defines the term 'offbeat'. I found myself chuckling every few minutes. Caan was pumping out some true classics in his peak (71-74) and here you really appeaciate the nuances of the role. Look at the way he reacts to Kellerman's 'Crazy chick' - perfect! But the real star here is the writer W.D.Richter. I see from IMDB that he hasn't had a film out in over 5 years. Why? He's a bloody genius!

4-0 out of 5 stars Kellerman & Caan: an easy match
When critics do their lists of the great screen couples, bet you ten-to-one they'll overlook this duo. James Caan and Sally Kellerman are a wild pair of would-bes: he's an ex-con, she's a sexy, daffy schizophrenic. Throw in Peter Boyle and Louise Lasser as a nutty pair of suburbanites who go along for the ride and you've got a comedy classic. Deadpan jokes, unforced direction, a wild chase scene. True genius!

5-0 out of 5 stars Slick & Lithe
Although not a big fan of any of the main actors here, with the possible exception of Boyle, this is nevertheless a great screwball comedy.Fine comic plot involving the search for illicit money that works itself out perfectly, memorable comic characters, including eccentric subsidiary ones like Shull and Garfield, and just the exact right pace.An untrumpeted masterpiece.Truly memorable ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Jorge Zanada's documentary on the Argentinian Tango
"Tango: Our Dance" refers to the people of Buenos Aires for whom the Tango is much more than a dance. It is a ritual imbued with great sensuality and style.Director Jorge Zanada is not offering up an extended music video, because this documentary looks at how the Tango fits uniquely into the culture of Argentina focusing on the elements of passion and machismo contained within the dance.Robert Duvall makes a "special appearance" in this film which is in English with Spanish subtitles."Tango Bayle nuestro" won the Golden Precolumbian Circle Best Documentary Award at the 1989 Bogota Film Festival.Ultimately, this film is more about culture than it is about dance per se.

4-0 out of 5 stars docu with real tango
Finaly a documentry with real danced Argentine tango with normal people, realy improvising on the music. Not everything I like in this video, there is a part with Ballroom tango and a choreographed dance (orgenised by an american program for latino's) that misses the point, but I like realy the end, a ballet , but it is beatifully danced in real Tango stile, that means heavy, down to the ground.

4-0 out of 5 stars Real Tango
Somewhat overwrought in its politics, but this film does put tango in its cultural context. This film shows ordinary people dancing the tango and talking about the dance they love.It contrast the real tango in BuenosAires and the acrobatic tango you see in shows. This film is insightfuland passionate and beautiful and sad, much like the tango itself. ... Callas only sings 4 arias on this dvd. This is the reason I gave only 3 stars. But sung of the finest possible voice, better than on other dvds availlable. The rest of it is Tosca complete act 2 and other orchestral pieces. She sings "Vissi d'arte", "Tu che le vanita" superbly, "Habanera" from Carmen and "Seguedille" of the same.

5-0 out of 5 stars Next best thing to being there
The 1962 appearance is more like the best of.We hear:
5-0 out of 5 stars Invaluable document
This is a conflation of two rare televised appearances of Callas from Covent Garden. The first was filmed in 1962 and Callas is in surprisingly good voice, considering she had almost given up at this time (her only other appearances that year were a series of concerts - no stage appearances at all). The Verdi is sung with a wealth of detail and expression and she acts out all Elisabetta'a emotions vividly, while hardly moving a muscle. Indeed she is so immersed in her singing that when a large brooch she is wearing dislodges and drops to the floor, she barely notices. She then changes completely into a playful, sexy and dangerous Carmen. What a pity she never wanted to sing the role on stage.

5-0 out of 5 stars worth seeing
In spite of the disastrous title and the repulsive cover picture, this is the best film Zeffirelli has made since "Romeo and Juliet."It has a nice balance of atmosphere, characterization and action. The photography and scenery alone are worth the price of admission.Missing is the magnificent music that Zeffirelli usually has in his films.Contrary to the amazon reviewer, the film is quite focused and carries with it a tension, although the tension is deliberately kept from becoming oppressive. The path of the story is not at all "predictable" with several surprising turns. There are a few laughs in the beginning, but this is a serious film.
5-0 out of 5 stars Delightful Film - Cher's Best!
This is a charming film with a great cast. The story is the perfect blend of bittersweet and endearing. And the countryside of Tuscany is a star itself! Cher, Lily Tomlin and Maggie Smith give phenomenal performances. Everything about the picture is first rate: the writing, the acting, the visuals, the soundtrack. One of my very favorite films of all time!

4-0 out of 5 stars You Can't Go Wrong With Director Franco Zeffirelli!
Whenever director Franco Zeffirelli is at the helm, you can be assured of great acting, fascinating scenery, and beautiful music. He has shown this in his "Romeo and Juliet," "Taming of the Shrew," "Hamlet," and "Jesus of Nazareth." Generally speaking, I DO NOT like war movies. Mainly because one, they tend to glorify people getting killed. Also, because character development normally takes a back seat to people getting blown up. Well, this movie qualifies as an exception. The story starts in Italy few years before World War II. The young Luca gradually realizes that his mother has died. To be sure, his father helps a little, but very little. Well Luca falls under the care of Maggie Smith (English), Joan Plowright (English), Judi Dench (English), Cher (Jewish), and Lily Tomlin (American). What these women share in common is that Italy will of course declare war on their different countries. Mussolini promises Maggie Smith (who may be able to provide some diplomatic favors) that she and her friends will be safe. Of course we don't need to think too hard to understand that this promise will only be carried through if it serves Mussolini in some way. (Despite the title, Mussolini only has a brief part.) Well, later, Luca's father decides that German "...is the language of tomorrow." So, Luca has to leave these women who were so kind to him. And of course, Italy joins Germany in the war. These women become prisoners, though not all at once. (Cher and Lily Tomlin have a bit more time of freedom.) Well, Luca (now grown up) returns, and offers what comfort he can to these women. He also has an on and off relationship with the energetic Cher. While Cher has her faults, she is heroic. She shows care for the Jews who will be in danger if they don't get out of Italy. She also uses her own money to move Smith, Plowright, and Dench to a hotel. (It is still a prison, but it is more of a country club type prison.) Another plot comes into play when a playboy is after Cher's money. Maggie Smith does not care for Cher, but will she rise to the occasion and save Cher? What makes this so different (as far as war movies are concerned) is that the war is in the background. The real story is the suffering of these women. So, we have the horrors of war without the glory. (But we can trust that Hollywood probably won't ever figure this out.) Interestingly, Luca never loses his love of art, and in a moment of desperation, Dench throws herself in front of art to stop the Nazis from blowing it up. Even if you don't like war movies, this is one you should make an exception for. If you like this, be sure to see Director Franco Zeffirelli's "Romeo and Juliet," "Taming of the Shrew," "Hamlet," and "Jesus of Nazareth." ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Horror Movie from the 80s
This movie begins with a fraternity getting pledges ready for Hell Week. The first parts of the movie is just fraternity hazing, until one of the frat brothers is possessed by Acid Sid, a pledge that was killed in a hazing incident years earlier. The frat activities are hilarious to watch. "swallow the spoils of war!" This movie is very entertaining.
1-0 out of 5 stars Horrible movie
I don't know how anyone could think this is a good movie. If possible, I wouldn't give it any stars. It's not even good to make fun of.Nothing horror movie-related even happens until at least 40 minutes in!Most of the movie just seemed like an excuse for people to babble and to display acts of homoeroticism, otherwise known as fraternity hazing. The acting is horrible, the plot is horrible, the writing is horrible...this movie has no redeeming qualities.Don't waste your time and certainly don't waste your money.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Movie of All Time
Pledge Night is truly a masterpiece that will be a sure classic many years from now.The movie presents an all-star cast with exceptional story writing.Excellent graphics !!!The scenes are very scary and Acid Sid probably won an Oscar for his great performance. No movie lover can do with out this treasured classic.Don't miss buying this one!!!! ... An episodic account of a family of roving sheepherders in Australia. Paddy Carmody (Robert Mitchum) loves being "someone whose home is where the sun goes down," but his wife (Deborah Kerr) and teenage son are tired of the nomadic life and want to settle down. Director Fred Zinnemann (Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The Wonderful Country
THE SUNDOWNERS is a very special film about sheepherders in the wonderful country of Australia. Robert Mitchum gives an impressive performance of a man torn between family and his love for the wide open country. This is a richly textured film with a touching score composed by Dimitri Tiomkin.

5-0 out of 5 stars Robert Mitchum is Wonderful
I love this story of sheepherders set in Australia. Robert Mitchum and Deborah Kerr are a fine pair but one wants to take root and have a home and the other just can not stand still long enough to feel comfortable because it's in his blood you see. Mitchum is very convincing. Perhaps he identified with his character to some degree. This is sort of a change of pace for director Fred Zinnemann as his pace his methodical yet endearing to the land and people. This is a long lost classic.

3-0 out of 5 stars It screams for a remake!
I was really charmed by the book which is a great story about family and had high hopes for the movie when I finally found it.Don't get me wrong, I really think Ms. Kerr and Mr. Mitchum are wonderful actors and the scenery is great but the story is dumbed down and everything is too cute and funny. Peter Ustimov makes me gag!
