This is my #1 favorite movie.I saw it again hours ago.I could recall all scenes and 90% of the dialogue; so I was a bit surprised to find a few tearsrunning from my eyes at the ending scene.

Phenominally successful film, about a man named Sam , who is killed and begins his journey to solving his own murder , as a ghost. Simple plot , however , the story is told with a fantastic cast. Whoopie Goldburg gives an outstanding, Oscar winning, performance as the medium that helps , Sam , communicate and get his earthly revenge. Everyone says this is a great film. I say , ditto.

If you missed the first episode with Xavier St. Cloud, this is the episode you'll want to see. At the end MacLeod only takes St Cloud's hand and tell's Tessa, he'll remember. Interesting story lines:Eye of the Beholder & Avenging Angel
The first story line shows the conflict from the different pathways taken by an old close friend,Piton,an immortal, and Duncan MacLeod.Richie also is involved in this conflict.He is not yet an immortal and gets in overhis head.Personally, I like the psychology of it.There are good fightscenes plus a novel way for Richie to get away from Piton. In the end,Duncan must kill his old friend.He has only sorrow and no joy when thisis accomplished. The second story is along the idea that if a moderatelyinsane man becomes immortal after death, what does the immortality do tohim and his sanity.Clever story development.He becomes the granddaddyof all religious fanatics. A Testament to Courage
This is a riveting soldiers in combat drama that works as a human drama also. Director Edward Zwick has made something special here as what could have been a routine story, takes on depth and a sense of honor and history as the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the first female officer killed in combat turns into a marshy quicksand of lies and deception about the events leading to her death.
A Good Movie Based On a Totally Bogus Premise
I place Courage Under Fire in the same class with A Few Good Men as "A military movie that would have been a lot better if the people writing/directing it had actually done a bit of research on the military." Let me hasten to add, I enjoyed Courage Under Fire, but I had two gripes: A Gulf War Rashomon with Washington and Ryan
The basic plot line of "Courage Under Fire" is that Lt. Col Nathaniel Serling (Denzel Washington) is investigating an incident during the Gulf War to determine whether or not the Medal of Honor should be awarded posthumously to Captain Karen Walden (Meg Ryan). It does not take us long to find out that the title of this film refers to both Serling and Walden. The initial story on Walden, the pilot of a rescue helicopter, is that she made a spectacular rescue of a downed helicopter crew, then fought off attacking Iraquis after her own copter crashed, dying right before the besieged group was rescued. But as Serling questions the surviving members of Walden's crew, he discovers their various versions do not jive, and he begins to question what is the truth of what really happened. Moreover, Serling is haunted by his own actions during the Gulf War, where he was responsible for a "friendly fire" incident that resulted in the death of American soldiers. To complicate matters even more, Serling is drinking way too much, has grown distant from his family, and is being hounded by both a commanding officer (Michael Moriarity) who wants the P.R. value of Walden being the first woman to receive the Medal of Honor and a reporter (Scott Glenn) who knows something of what happened to the Colonel in Iraq and wants to know the rest. SMOKE GETS IN YOUR EYES
FIREFIGHT is an above average, if somewhat implausible, thriller set in a smoldering forest fire.Our hero, played with astute machoism by rugged Steve Bacic, plots an armored truck robbery with Nick Mancuso, Sonya Solaama and Brad Rivoh, and to do so stages a fake fire to cover their deed.Of course, enter laconic Stephen Baldwin as Sonya's bad boyfriend and he wants all the money himself.The movie offers little novelty in its exeuction and the CGI effects are so obviously fake it brings the movie down a notch (see:Backdraft/Ladder 49 for real special effects).But it's harmless entertainment and Bacic has a strong screen presence, although the ending is a real pain in the neck!!

Some Like it Hot
"Firefight" is one of the better straight to video releases of the last few years.While a wildfire is raging, two firefighters, an armored car driver and his dispatcher hatch a plot to rob the car. It's a pretty elaborate scheme that involves detouring the truck around the fire to a secluded area and staging the robbery.No one is supposed to get hurt, and since the money is insured no one really suffers.Unfortunately, the dispatcher's boyfriend Wolf(Stephen Baldwin, playing a ruthless thug) gets wind of the scheme and wants the money for himself. Some pretty tense action ensues.

I waited 30+ Years for this?
I remember being very young and being taken to a local theater to see a science fiction quadruple feature. I don't remember much about any of them except MISSION STARDUST. It did not stay in my memory because it is a great film. It stayed in my memory because the film broke early into it and I never got to see the whole thing. That has stuck in my mind. On a lark, I looked for it on Amazon and actually found it.
For fans eyes only
The movie was worse than I expected... Bad video, bad acting, bad special effects were all at a level I was expecting, but it is difficulty to beleive that they required 3 screenplay writers to screw-up an ok sci-fi book (at least for a book written early 60s). If you haven't read the Perry Rhodan series please don't waste your money. But if you read a few of them (maybe thousands) you know you will have to check it out one day. Do it now while you still have a vcr because I don't think this movie will make it to DVD.

If you like really bad European Cinema then....
A quirky european film from the psychodelic era that is even worse than Barbarella. The juxtaposition of theme, mood, bad music, and, low- budget production values make it laughable. The only good thing about this film is ESSY PERSSON in those outragous costumes! This movie is so bad that it elevates the work of Dino De Laurentiis to the level of mediocraty. Hangman's Curse Good Movie PG-13
Abel Frye, a troubled teen accused of stabbing a young girl to death, committed suicide in what is, ten years later, known as the `forbidden wing'. Ten years later, students at Rogers High School believe the spirit of the tormented teen returns, as students on the football team begin to see hallucinations of the dead pupil. Nate and Sarah Springfield and their two teenage children go undercover to solve the mystery claiming the students in the school with a deadly force that can only end in tragedy, after finding out you can not annihilate what you cannot come across.
Hangman's Curse
Not a bad movie, but unfortunately, it doesn't convey the ideals that the book conveys. At least not as strong as the book. In the book, the kids are never in disagreement with their parents ideals, while in the movie they are. You would never know it's based on a Christian book, until maybe the last scene.

I went into this movie with low expectations.I was just hoping that it would keep me interested and for the most part it did.There are certain sections where the acting is dismal and Frank Peretti is way over the top but funny (as a mix of Adam Sandler and Christopher Lloyd!).What I liked though was how it kept you guessing as to what was really going on at Rogers High School.I enjoyed Elisha and Elijah as a sort of Spy Kids meets Scooby Doo detectives but did believable job.All of the kids seemed like typical high school kids with their whatever-attitudes.I did guess who was behind everything about 55 minutes into the movie but still found it interesting how it was done.If this was a regular movie, I would have rated it lower, but for a Christian movie (where there really isn't a lot of good ones), it was enjoyable and even slightly creepy near the end (don't want to give anything away though but you might start thinking something is on you!).Also, I checked this out from the library, so it was free, which also helps.I also think that the Christian overtones were not in your face as Elisha and Elijah use their actions more than words to show their faith.I am also glad for a logical ending more than an unbelievable supernatural ending.I also enjoyed the scene in the beginning with the class discussion about prayer in school.A very good point.I have not read the book, but enjoyed the movie despite flaws.If you have a chance, go ahead and check it out.There is no cursing, although you get to hear Frank Peretti say: "A chemical booty call." ... Street Hawk
An excellent series for its time in the 1980's. Some special effects look slightly dated today, but it's still very enjoyable and nostalgic. The superb music (by Tangerine Dream) is particularly memorable. Contrary to what others have said, the series has never been released on dvd anywhere. Any dvds advertised are recorded from TV and will be transfers from VHS tape to dvd, as the series has not been on TV for some years. Despite a strong fanbase, an official dvd release does not seem likely in the near future. Only the pilot episode has ever been officially released on VHS.

Carl Sagan's Vision Comes Alive
This movie is based on Carl Sagan's novel of the same name.Carl is no longer with us, but he was a key component in the production of this film.Starring Jodie Foster, Matthew McConaughey, and William Fichtner, this fine film will capture your interest from the start, and even more so if you are into Science Fiction.You really get caught up in Ellie Arroway's heartfelt desire to make contact with another world.She gets her chance, and what follows is nothing short of miraculous.I cried during this movie.It tugs at your heartstrings in a big way at times.This is a truly great movie.

This film always brings me to tears.No matter how much I know my emotionalstrings are being tugged, when Jodie Foster's face morphs into herself as a child and she whispers "No words"... well, I'm crying now.
Carl Sagan would be proud
Somebody once said that good science fiction puts an ordinary situation into a futuristic or scientific backdrop. Contact is a prime example of how to make a good drama in a setting of science and exploration. It's as true an adaptation to Carl Sagan's novel as you can get considering what you have to do to make the events of the book fit into a feature film. They certainly don't skimp on the special effects either. The opening scene alone is beautiful in it's expansiveness. 'The Machine' hey build to do the space exploration thing is awesome to behold. They do a great job portraying the massive scale of it.

A classic
Okay so maybe it's not a classic...but I think that it should be.This is a very well written script that stands the test of time.Watching this film on cable yesterday, the movie doesn't once fall into the campy column.I can't say the same for the rest of the series.To tell you the truth I think that they should have stopped at the one movie.But still, this movie has everything, laughs, lite-suspense, and just an all around good, clean family fun.

Legends Of The Dull
More predictable than an old TV Land episode of Bonanza and much less entertaining, this story of an anti-government rancher and his three sons, one the upstanding sort who seeks to work for good within the system, one an idealist, and the middle son, Tristan, played by Brad Pitt, a tormented man who seeks to find peace within nature's anger. At least that's what I think he was doing. The fact is I never was a fan of this movie, not back in the 1990's when my best friend loved it (and predicted Julia Ormond would be a superstar--sorry, Gina, if you ever read this, I just couldn't resist working that in there, ha-ha) and not upon the occasion of a recent second viewing. I don't think there's anything to really recommend this movie to anyone. It's not spectacular in its setting, it's not revolutionary in its by-the-numbers story, and I found then and still find now that it is highly melodramatic and boring. To each his own, I know some love this movie, but from where I sit, this film is a would-be epic that never rises above fluff.

This is my favorite band line-up of Frank's, too bad I never got to see it in person (saw him in 1981 at the Fox Theater in Atlanta). IS there a better drummer than Terry Bozzio?!?!? I don't think so. And, with Frank's obsessive recording and filming, I wish they would release more video of this band.

Deja Vu All Over Again
The fuss over Forrest Gump still amazes me. This movie basically rips off better movies in almost every scene. Still somehow it managed to win Best Picture over Pulp Fiction And The Shawshank Redemption in 1994. Out of all of the movies that were released 1n 94 this one wouldnt even make my top 20. Nobodys Fool, Quiz Show, The Lion King, and the list goes on. The only reason that I would give it props is for(at the time) was the special effects, which now are dated. After Gump Zemekis directed a episode of Tales From The Crypt where he used the same Technology and was easiest the worst episode of that year. I used to be a HUGE Zemekis fan. Used Cars, Romancing the Stone, Back to the Furture movies and Death Becomes Her were I thought were strong movies. But arounf Back to the Future 2I thought Zemekis started to rely to much on special effects and it shows on this film. To the objective viewer re-watch this film and think about every scene and try to remember where you have seen that scene before. I guarantee you after you do that you will see this movie in a totally different light.

The "It's A Wonderful Life" of the 60's generation
Forrest Gump is an absolutely brilliant film that captures the 60's and the early 70's in the same way that Frank Capra's wonderful film did for the WWII generation.

This is a wonderful and carefully sculpted script on the nature of the art and impossible love. A Polish widow and an American Soldier joined and ironically separated for the invisible barriers of a bloody War: Affections, memories under Chopin 's music will allow us to establish an immediate link with that unforgettable gem of the late Forties: Jean Pierre Melville 'sThe Silence of the sea.
Maya Komorowska superb in A Year of the Quiet Sun
A Year of the Quiet Sun is a love story told in the bombed out remains of Poland just after World War II.Scott Wilson is Norman, a private in the American Army who remains behind to take part in the investigation of war crimes.He meets Emilia, a woman he notices painting a picture in a burnt out car.He takes an interest in her and soon falls deeply in love with her and wants to marry her.Emilia is played by Maya Komorowska, who is easily the best thing about this film. This was my husband's question halfway through this powerful film.In 1946, an American officer (Scott Wilson, "In Cold Blood") comes to a devastated, formerly German part of Poland to investigate war crimes.He befriends a displaced war widow (the superb Maja Komorowska) and her mother, despite their meager shared vocabulary.Friendship blossoms into love.But don't expect a lot of pretty scenes.This film is somber, with a complete absence of special effects.Light and color are doled out like postwar jam and coffee.The closest it comes to laughs is the occasional guffaw of frustration at the variously hapless and feckless translators recruited to the lovers' cause.Oh, and viewers of Polish background get a ticket for one chuckle of recognition at the portrait of the self-sacrificing mother. Also, there is no glamour-amid-the-ruins, absolutely none.No, all elements of light entertainment are stripped away here.The film's entire brilliance comes from Zanussi's script and direction, self-effacing yet dumbfounding art and camera work, the basis in history, and virtuoso ensemble acting.The real sufferings endured by millions are the canvas on which this film is painted.Somber, yes, but the story might really have happened; in fact, I have no doubt that some version of it really did happen, perhaps many times.Zanussi's real subject is the bright flame of decency, strength and heroism on which civilized behavior depends.I was a little worried about inflicting this movie on my husband after a hard day's work...would he doze off?But I'd forgotten one thing since I first saw "A Year of the Quiet Sun" years ago as a first-run movie in New York:the superb acting and the fragile communication between the main characters produce a sustained dramatic tension which will keep you on the edge of your seat.Believe me, we both stayed wide-eyed.Had enough of Hollywood?Here's your movie. ... Phenominally successful film, about a man named Sam , who is killed and begins his journey to solving his own murder , as a ghost. Simple plot , however , the story is told with a fantastic cast. Whoopie Goldburg gives an outstanding, Oscar winning, performance as the medium that helps , Sam , communicate and get his earthly revenge. Everyone says this is a great film. I say , ditto.
