4-0 out of 5 stars goofy but great!!!
This movie is great if you like corny movies like me and are tired of the same boring hollywood garbage get this movie!!!

3-0 out of 5 stars No 'Evil Dead'.
Not up to the standard of Sam Raimi's "Evil Dead" trilogy. Some funny moments, one great death, amusing cameos. This is basically a comedy/horror retelling of the Orpheus and Eurydice myth, right down to the three-headed hound at the gates of Hades, the Styx and the instruction to not look back. Disappointing ending. Like its scenery, the movie seems a little dry and barren. Some good effects though. Some not so good.

5-0 out of 5 stars Highway to Hell
Perhaps it's not perfect, because of lack of budget. But it is very unusual and goes way beyond the average horror flick. Somewhere behind all the strange and funny events there is a deep humanity and wisdom. This could become a undiscovered classic in fifty years from now. ... Read more

Editorial Review

Imaginatively rendered but slightly chilly, this 1951 Disney adaptation of the Lewis Carroll classic is also appropriately surreal. Alice (voiced by Kathryn Beaumont) has all the anticipated experiences: shrinking and growing, meeting the White Rabbit, having tea with the Mad Hatter, etc. Characterization is very strong, and the Disney team worked hard to bring screen personality to Carroll's eccentric creations. For a Disney film, however, it seems more the self-satisfied sum of its inventiveness than a truly engaging experience. Read more

Rudyard Kipling's classic story comes to delightful life with this wonderful animated short combining the estimable talents of narrator Orson Welles and director Chuck Jones (the genius behind many of the best Warner Bros. cartoons). The tape was a present for our granddaughter and we did not watch it ourselves. My wife had seen the tape a long time ago and remembered it as being very good....
5-0 out of 5 stars Faithful to the original!
Our 7th grade literature book has Kipling's original story "Rikki-tikki-tavi" in it. The students enjoy the story and I like showing the video after they have studied it. We discuss portrayal of Rikki (pics in the text don't show mongooses as quite so adorable as the animated Rikki), as well as of Nag and Nagaina. This video is so particularly useful because it is faithful to the original story, not changing endings or characters or events in any significant way. Well worth having!

This warmhearted TV offering based on Mitch Albom's nonfictionbestseller of the same name dives right into the action, with Morrie (JackLemmon) collapsing within the first three minutes. Then it's cut to Mitch'shectic life as a sports columnist cum television host and long-term, oftenlong-distance boyfriend. But this Mick Jackson-directed film slowsconsiderably after the introductions as former student Mitch (Hank Azaria)learns his beloved professor is dying of ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease). Hereconnects with his mentor and begins learning from him all over again, thistime about life. Oprah Winfrey produced this 88-minute film, and her renownedtouchy-feely quality is prominent as Mitch learns to love both Morrie and hisown girlfriend. 3-0 out of 5 stars Don' t take it too seriously!
If you have nothing to do, the weather is rainy and cold and there is nothing to watch or even read in your home, come for this amazing and grotesque characterization. It is delirious portrait of fantastic humor, if I may use this term.
2-0 out of 5 stars "She may have been contaminated."
Attack of the 50 Foot Woman has the best poster of any monster movie from the 1950s, but it's one of the cheapest sci-fi pictures I've ever seen. I saw it yesterday at a local theater as part of a double feature with the giant ant classic Them!, including cartoon, trailers for films like the Ronald Reagan western Law and Order (another film directed by Nathan Juran), and a 1934 Flash Gordon serial.

4-0 out of 5 stars JAG Season 1 coming to DVD this June!
Get excited JAG fans, Season 1 has been confirmed by Paramount Home Entertainment as due for release on June 20th, 2006. Harmon Rabb is about to make the trap on DVD.
5-0 out of 5 stars Why not?
I cannot understand why the J.A.G. seasons are not released on DVD. I've been watching it for years, here in Germany, and would very much like to watch the original. I think especially the first 6-7 seasons are simply gorgeus, best American entertainment, heroic and touching, good characters, good acting, well built stories. So why not on DVD? Many of my friends would surely buy it.

5-0 out of 5 stars JAG: Lets have it all
I have been a fan since the pilot episode.I enjoy the well thought out plots and find Harm and co-stars to be delightful to watch.I was very disappointed when Meg was replaced with Mac, but it hasn't stopped me from watching every episode.

5-0 out of 5 stars Ray Harryhausen's classic Sci-Fi Creature Creation
"Twenty Million Miles to Earth" is a superb example of 1950's sci-fi story telling and special effects at their very best. The film has so many different things to offer a sci-fi buff like myself, top notch work by genius Ray Harryhausen, wonderful on-location photography in the beautiful Eternal City Rome, and one of the best monster creations of the entire 1950's decade in the famed "Ymir" from Venus. Indeed "monster" is not really an appropiate title in this case for this visitor from beyond the stars is a creature very much in the "King Kong" mode of being a sympathetic victim of man's lack of care and understanding in bringing him out of his own environment into a strange new world he does not understand.Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Why isn't this on DVD
There are certain movies that I like to buy and watch again and again. This is one of them. Great story, great performances. I'm not sure why it's not on DVD but it should be. I'd buy it.

4-0 out of 5 stars MARSHA MASON'S GREATEST ROLE YET!
If ever there was such a thing and I controlled the ballots for the Best Actress Oscar in 1981, I would have given the golden boy to Marsha Mason for her amazing performance as Georgia Hines in the always entertaining ONLY WHEN I LAUGH.Once again, Ms. Mason outdoes herself in this "dramedy" about sordid lives, real addictions and mother-daughter dilemmas handled with craft and skill by Neil Simon. Not only does she deliver the goods here, Mason is supported by some real pros including James Coco and Joan Hackett as friends who adore Georgia but have their own hang-ups & dramas to deal with.I feel Kristy McNichol is a bit miscast in this film as Georgia's confused teenage daughter, but does her best with the material at hand.ONLY WHEN I LAUGH is pure entertainment filled with some biting dialogue and dramatic touches bringing it to a nice simmer. At the height of her career, Ms. Mason's stunning performance as a formerly overweight, down-on-her-luck stage actress with an unquenchable thirst proves she's go what it takes to make you laugh, cry and relate to her character on many levels. As far as acting goes, this is as good as it gets!!PLEASE NOTE THAT ALONG WITH THE OTHER REVIEWERS, WE NEED THIS MOVIE ON DVD.MY VHS TAPE HAS SEEN ITS BETTER DAYS.AMAZON--PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE MAKE SOME NOISE WITH COLUMBIA PICTURES TO TRANSFER THIS FABULOUS FILM TO DVD.ITS TIME HAS COME!!!
4-0 out of 5 stars ONE OF NEIL SIMON'S BEST

"Flashdance" meets "Meatballs III" or maybe it should just be called "Meatballs IV". This is my friend Wesley's all-time favorite movie, largely because he still has a thing about J.V. cheerleaders. An Adult, not rated, film
4-0 out of 5 stars Still an enjoyable one
This is the first of the three original Emmanuelle movies, the ones starring Sylvia Kristel. There were lots of imitators, most ranging from bad to worse and beyond. At the time of the first Emmanuelle, though none of that had yet happened - please hold that happy thought. Perhaps those three weren't high art, but they're generally good entertainment for adults.
4-0 out of 5 stars CLASSIC SOFT-CORE PORN
REALLY, THERE IS VERY LITTLE PLOT TO FIND IN THIS FRENCH-MADE SOFT-CORE PORN FLICK. BUT, THERE ARE PLENTY OF HOT SEX SCENES TO SPARE IN THIS CLASSIC PORNO FLICK. IT'S BASICALLY ABOUT A YOUNG WOMAN [SYLVIA KRISTEL] WHO JUST ENCOUNTERS SEX EVERYWHERE SHE GOES, WHETHER IT BE WITH MEN OR WOMEN. SURE, THE ACTING AIN'T GOOD, AND SURE, IT'S VERY SHORT ON PLOT, BUT THEN AGAIN, ALMOST ALL PORNO MOVIES ARE SHORT ON PLOT. THIS HAS BEAUTIFULLY FILMED SEX SCENES AND IT HAS AN EXCELLENT THREESOME FOR AN ENDING. WHETHER YOU'RE A YOUNG OR OLD FAN OF SOFT-CORE OR EVEN HARD-CORE PORN, THEN GET THIS NOW. THE FILM COULD'VE USED BETTER DUBBING. FOLLOWED BY A NUMBER OF SEQUELS. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Pre-Détente Cold War Tensions Sent Up in a Now-Quaint Period Comedy
Some of the bloom is off this relatively genial 1966 comedy that satirizes Cold War-era attitudes well before détente was established between the two sides. Directed by Norman Jewison, the film now has a relatively prosaic quality that makes the then-alarming situation between a group of Soviet soldiers and the townsfolk on an island off Massachusetts not terribly exciting. Adapted by William Rose from a book by Nathaniel Benchley, the story concerns a Russian submarine that runs aground on a sandbar on U.S. soil. Eight crewman led by Lt. Rozanov are dispatched to find a boat big enough to pull the submarine free. They first encounter a New York family vacationing on the island, a musical comedy playwright named Walt Whittaker with his wife and son. The Whittakers gradually overcome their fears to help the men out but not before the rest of the town is up in arms about a perceived Russian invasion. It all leads to a tense confrontation, but a surprise turn provides all with a greater sense of their brotherhood and the value of peace.
5-0 out of 5 stars Thank the Russians for coming!
This movie is great for anyone with a sense of humor. Everyone in it gave it 110% and made this movie the best it could be. It's the kind of movie you'll watch again and again, just to laugh.
5-0 out of 5 stars The Russians Are Coming, the Russians Are Coming

Editorial Review

This harrowing but rewarding 1984 drama concerns the real-life relationship between New York Times reporter Sidney Schanberg and his Cambodian assistant Dith Pran (Haing S. Ngor), the latter left at the mercy of the Khmer Rouge after Schanberg--who chose to stay after American evacuation but was booted out--failed to get him safe passage. Filmmaker Roland Joffé, previously a documentarist, made his feature debut with this account of Dith's rocky survival in the ensuing madness of the Khmer Rouge's genocidal campaign. The script spends some time with Schanberg's feelings of guilt after the fact, but most of the movie is a shattering re-creation of hell on Earth. The late Haing S. Ngor--a real-life doctor who had never acted before and who lived through the events depicted by Joffé--is outstanding, and he won a Best Supporting Actor Oscar. Oscars also went to cinematographer Chris Menges and editor Jim Clark. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Great Film
It all started with John Malkovich. Me seeing the movie I mean, not the film itself. I was scanning through Malkovich's filmography and saw this film in their. I had heard of the film, but had no idea what it was about but I checked it out. Malkovich is close to top billing, but his role is really small...Having said that, this was an amazing film. Truly a work of art. The movie stars Sam Waterston ('Serial Mom') playing Sydney Schanberg, a New York Times columnist who heads to Cambodia on the brink of war. Bombs have been dropped, labor camps have been set up and Schanberg wants to write about all of it. When he gets there he meets Dith Pran (Haing S. Ngor, who won an Oscar for the role), who becomes his friend and interpreter. Malkovich plays Schanberg's photographer Al Rockoff; His role is brief, but he leaves his mark. After Schanberg's war entraps himself and his fellow journalists, Pran saves him from being executed but is himself placed in a labor camp. The script is based on a New York Times article by Schanberg called The Death and Life of Dith Pran. When I saw that, I figured this would be a rather depressing story. Truth is, the film is quite uplifting. The choice to use John Lennon's "Imagine" for the final scene was perfect. Anyway, back to the synopsis...Schanberg is back in New York, while Pran slaves at the labor camp. Schanberg has no idea whether Pran is alive or dead, but doesn't give up on the idea of one day reuniting with his friend. Most films that take place in this setting, I'm not a big fan of. I'm not saying I didn't like these films, but movies like The Constant Gardener and Beyond Borders are a bit like this movie. Although, for the record, this film is way better. Having said those last two things I was surprised that I liked this film. Whether you're a fan of these kinds of movies or not, you need to see this. It's an important and uplifting movie, that no one should not see.
5-0 out of 5 stars To this day one of the greatest movies related to war ever made
The insanity of Pol Pot and his regime, Hell on Earth!
4-0 out of 5 stars "The Killing Fields"
This is your special opportunity to witness the authentic killing fields in Phnom Penh when Khmer Rouge, a communist groupled by Pol Pot, took power in the capital of Cambodia on April 17th 1975. Not only does this film portray accurately the cruel intentions committed by the Ultra Communist Khmer Rouge Regime, but it also haunts you with the question on injustice as to why the prime minister of Cambodia would treat his people in this brutal way.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome series
It's rare that a modern film can achieve the status of masterpiece... it's even rarer for a trilogy to accomplish that feat. The fellowship is the begining of what would become a modern day classic trilogy. My only complaint is the movies aren't long enough! There are some elements of the book that were not used. All in all Peter Jackson has done a wonderful job. I hope he directs the Hobbit.

Shortly after this came out, the media was swamped with well-meaning attacks on the violence in children's programming, much of which was directed at such classic cartoons as featured here - clearly a wrong-headed knee-jerk reaction gone too far. Perhaps that is why WB never re-released it on DVD. As it is, it is a prized member of my VHS collection, but I'd really like a newer one.Read more

Overall it was just an average video. The title is somewhat deceiving since not all the skits were game shows. What was disappointing was in some sections they didn't show all of the game shows they were parodying.

3-0 out of 5 stars Varies wildly from hysterically funny to downright awful.
As you might expect, this "Saturday Night Live" tape is a lot like the show. Some of the skits are fantastic while others fall flat on their face.4-0 out of 5 stars Great Collectoin of SNL sketches
I definately recommend you buying this collectoin of SNL Game Show Parodies. It features some of the greatest SNL sketches ever. One is Dysfunctional Family Feud, which features Chris Farley at his greatest. Also, you'll enjoy Jackie Roger Jr.'s $100,000 Jackpot Wad, which features Billy Crystal as Sammy Davis, Jr. Pay attention to Rajeevs face when Saammy gives the clue for asparagus. And David Spade gives a great performance in Geek, Dweeb, or Spazz. The only thing that I think hould've been included is the rest of the Stand Up and Win sketch. Overall, this really is a great video. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Please sir, I want some more
If you watch these videos in chronological order (which you should) this provides a fascinating follow up to the cute and funny Spring Break Adventure (even the more serious Mexico half featured jokes like the letter Indy wrote to his dad). The only problem is, that it shouldn't follow directly after like it does. There were two episodes, "Ireland, April 1916" and "London, May 1916" that were not put on video.Instead, we jump from what must be March (in Mexico) to "Somme, Early August 1916" and "Germany, Mid August 1916".One might ask why this was done.5-0 out of 5 stars Outstanding - Best of the series
These are arguably the greatest episodes in the series. They are emotional, moving, action packed, and realistic. If there's a knock on the series it's that it's often hokey, and Indy runs into too many famous people. But this episode pulled no punches and delivered on all cylinders. It is so excellent, I rate it better than the last two Indiana Jones movies. 5-0 out of 5 stars A harrowing tale of the horrors of war
The 8th chapter in the Young Indiana Jones series, this is a dark and harrowing look at the horrors of war. The movie is divided into three parts:
