This was an unexpected treat!
I was flipping through channels when I ran into this movie, not knowing what the title was. After seeing Dorff's mug, I figured this was going to be another crappy movie; I never liked any of his movies... till this one. I missed the first 10 minutes but the few seconds I saw drew me in almost instantaneously. I've always thought Dorff as being typecasted as a movie "baddie" or heel. This movie absolutely redeemed Dorff's image as being a very versatile actor. The movie also had plenty of twists and side stories that kept me amused ( I enjoyed the talking cat scene); and the small narration scenes was a welcome treat due to the humor behind it. A must see! Independent films rock!... not to mention the cameo of U2 added the icing on the topping. This film will definitely be added to my library.
You cant say no to a movie with Bono
Stephen Dorff (Blade, Cecil B. Demented) plays a music video director who becomes a movie director. The film he's working on is a period piece. In filming this movie he falls in love with a French model, Judith Godreche (?),and they becoming in love and their relationship blossoms. He works on the movie while she models but she thinks he's getting a little carried away on his work. Things happen like in all relationships especially if its a director or an actor and their girlfriend has a jealous fit of rage. So, Godreche goes to Europe for a shoot while Dorff stays back in the US finishing directing the picture. Godreche breaks it off with Dorff because she is seeing someone else, so Dorff is also kicked off the movie so he goes back to doing music videos for the rock band U2 (Bono, Larry, Edge). Dorff meets this a irish woman, Kelly MacDonald (Gosford Park, Finding Neverland), and desides he wants to get married to her right away. Bono of U2 who appears on a television screen tries to convince him not to but Dorff ignores Bono and the 2 love birds get married (its videotaped) in Las Vegas with Elvis playing guitar in the background. Godreche wants to get back with Dorff but Dorff is married to MacDonald...so at the U2 concert, while U2 is playing Mysterious Ways....they show Dorff's wedding video..so Godreche sees it..she runs off and also his friends tell him he's back on the movie so it's this intwinded sort of thing going on..hence the title of the movie..Entropy. Dorff is extremely good but some of it is a little cheesy but hey, what can you say with a movie that has the guys from U2 in it? Godreche as the french girl is miscast but Kelly MacDonald..the shorthair irish girl is cute as ever. Also starring Lauren Holly (Dumb and Dumber, Any Given Sunday), Jon Tenney (Buying The Cow, Fools Rush In) and Paul Guilfoyle (Tv's CSI:Las Vegas, Session 9).

Stephen Hasn't Been This Hilarious Since, Candy Darling
Finally Stephen plays a role worthy of his talents.He is the perfect lead in a dramatic comedy and I love to see him in these types of roles.Entropy is a very entertaining film filled with cameos, music and even a talking cat.Read more

Great VHS
I found this along with a couple more "Best of" tapes at a local Wal-Mart for only $3.88 each.This tape is great well worth the price.I loved the Clinton sketches.

Boy, all of history should be this funny!
Darrell Hammond's "Bill Clinton" and John Goodman's "Linda Tripp" have to stand as two of the funniest comic performances even done on the long-running television show. It was alright.

Chariots of Fur in DVD, pleeeeease!!!
HeyMr. WARNER, what's about a 2-DVD-set with ALL the "Modern Looney Tunes Shorts" from 1987 to 2004???:
Good collection.
This is a great collection of Looney Tunes made by The Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote. It includes the brand new cartoon, CHARIOTS OF FUR (1994) which suprisingly turned out to be a great cartoon, unlike CARROTBLANCA. This collection also includes 5 more cartoons. This includes OPERATION RABBIT (1951), one of five cartoons made with Bugs Bunny and Wile E. Coyote. Interestingly, this was made before BEEP, BEEP (1952), the second Road Runner cartoon ever. It basically uses the Coyote from FAST AND FURRY-OUS (1949). READY, WOOLEN, AND ABLE (1960) is the best cartoon starring Ralph Wolf and Sam Sheep Dog. I guess this is on this tape because Ralph Wolf is a form of Wile E. BEEP BEEP & HOOK, LINE, AND STINKER (1958) are also great cartoons. ZIP 'N' SNORT (1961) is the second best Road Runner cartoon ever, next to TO BEEP OR NOT TO BEEP (1963) of course. The only complaint I have is that other than the brand new cartoon, the other five are on ROAD RUNNER VS. WILE E. COYOTE: THE CLASSIC CHASE. But if you want ... better quality, buy this!

Chuck Jones continues to entertain new audiences with the Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote. Chariots of fur is an blend of his final cartoon with the duo. I found it to be very exciting. If you have Road Runner vs. Wile E. Coyote The Classic Chase from Warner Bros. Golden Jubiliee 24 Karat collection, this video might not be for you. The other five cartoons actually appear on that video; Zip N' Snort, Operation: Rabbit, Hook, Line and Stinker, Beep Beep, and Ready, Woolen and Able. Raising the Titanic - This IS Fiction
Seriously, this is one of my favorite movies! Granted it's got a hackneyed script and having a nuclear submarine head off the Russians (we were still in the "Cold War" remember?) was a bit far fetched, but what makes it a favorite is:
Great Novel and wonderful music score, don't add up to good film.
I had already read Clive Cussler's fine novel "Raise The Titanic!" upon which this film was based before I saw it in 1980.
DVD is readily available in Region 2 - a fun taut thriller
This entertaining adaptation of the Clive Cussler novel is readily available on DVD in Europe. Armed with a region-free player and you have access to a whole wealth of movies that are not released yet in Region 1 for example HIGH ROAD TO CHINA (Region 2), SILVER BEARS (Region 4), WHEN EIGHT BELLS TOLL (Region 2) and THE FOURTH PROTOCOL (Region 2) to name just a few.

let's make this short and sweet...
This is one of the most boring movies I have ever seen.I knew from the very beginning of the movie that there was no way I was going to be able to stay awake through the whole thing.I was right; I fell asleep about fifteen minutes into it.Recently, I was offered the chance to watch it again.I thought, "OK, I didn't see the whole thing, it might have gotten better, so I'll give it another chance." ... Bad mistake.This little tale about a horse race across a vast desert did nothing to hold my interest for very long.Hidalgo is the name of the horse.So what?That's about as boring as this movie.So why the 1-star markup? Cause the main character is played by Viggo Mortensen, of Aragorn fame in the smash movie series The Lord of the Rings- and I do like Viggo.I did not, however, like this movie.It's kind of fitting it should be set in a desert- cause that's exactly where this movie should be buried, never to bore another wave of audiences again.If you find yourself overworked and in need of a nice long nap, watch Hidalgo; you'll be out in no time.

Love this movie, caught some of it on TV one week so then did a search on Amazon and brought the movie. Family entertainment Loosly based on the real life Frank T Hopkins who did more to save the wild Mustang than any other.

Classic film making on a grand scale.A truly epic film.
Hidalgo is based upon a true story, so it's no wonder it's thrilling, truth being stranger than fiction and all.Although it's highly doubtful that everything in the movie actually happened, Frank Hopkins was indeed a real life cowboy, master horseman and rider and he did participate in the great Bedouin horse race of the Middle East known as the "Ocean of Fire" in the 1890's.

This not-quite-black comedy was probably a laugh riot on paper. The translation almost works, but the execution is flawed. Phoebe Cates is a recently separated young woman who suddenly begins to see her supposedly imagined childhood friend (Drop Dead Fred) after moving back into her mother's home. Is he a manifestation of her secret desires to ditch the boorish spouse? Or was he real all along? Rik Mayall is a limber, carrot-topped Brit with the lamentable assignment of trying to make us laugh with vulgar, sophomoric trickery. He is supposedly the repository of Cates's fastidious repression but is more annoying than cathartic. Read more

good kids movie
I always enjoyed this as a kid.Watching it years later I was surprised to find out again it is such a touching story.Drop Dead Fred almost made me cry today.A movie for kids and adults, just don't take that pill!
a very grown-up kid's movie
Ambiguously "imaginary" friend Drop Dead Fred sums up the movie's premise when he says, "You see, when something's not working right, the best thing to do is tear it apart to make it better." (He's referring to dismantling a jack-in-the-box in order to garnish a mud pie.)

This is one of, if not the worst movie I've almost seen. I got up and walked out of it and got my money back. Cates gives me serious wood but even that couldn't keep me watching it. No Subtitles or Close Captioning
Despite the fact that this is an awesome and humorous movie (The best monty python ever made). This gets a 1 from me for having no subtitles or close captioning since I am hard of hearing. Are there any versions with subtitles??

This is another collection of Disney shorts set to music, but this time the formula works. That's predicated on the inherent strength of the individual pieces and almost all of them come through. Surprisingly, two American folk heroes, Johnny Appleseed and Pecos Bill, are the stars of this show, with rousty little tunes, humor, and compelling linear story lines (a rarity in most of these shorts). Even the shorts that are weak in one area, thematically or musically, make up for it in another. There's very little of the Disney animators attempting to be 1940s modern, thank goodness, and there's a sterling quality in the depth of the art work. Roy Would NOT be Happy
we got no further in this DVD than "Pecos Bill", after discovering that they cut out part of the song. yes, it's a DVD called "Melody Time" and they cut out part of a song! I'd like to know the genius at Disney who thought this would be a good idea. needless the say, this item is being returned to Amazon.

Melody Time is good,in parts
Melody Time was made by Walt Disney in a time when he needed to make a movie.He was bogged down in helping the USA with information and propaganda during WWII, so he needed something at the end of the war to help raise funds.So Walt Disney takes a series of shorts that have a musical theme in common (and nothing else)pieces them together and creates a feature length movie made up of short sketches.Very similar to Fantasia with the exception that this movie is not even in the same league as Fantasia.
A great bedtime video
My son is a year and a half and this is his favorite video. It's beautifully done and has soft but catchy music. I could've sworn there was a segment with the big monster that wears tennis shoes and Bugs is giving him a manicure ?
Witch Hazel is no match for Bugs Bunny!
"Bugs Bunny's Howl-Oween Special" is one hilarious cartoon telvision program. Great treat for young and old alike who love Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Tweety, and that hair pin-losing witch Witch Hazel. I own it, and must have watched it over 40 times in the last 3 years. Hilarious when Witch Hazel turns into a vampire and Bugs says "Abra Cadabra" and the vampire becomes a bat, and Bugs doesn't realize it. Bugs is sitting up in bed, and sees the bat flying across close by. He says, "Golly! What big mosquitoes they have around here. Hold still, you little devil." He smashes it on the floor. The bat manages to get up and fly out of the window. Bugs, reading the book on magic words and phrases, says "Hocus Pocus". The bat transforms back into the vampire and falls into the water below. This is just a sample of the hilarity in this video. Sounds good? Why not? You'll be spooked up in far amounts...in hilarity, that is. HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Who hacked up the cartoons??
I really want to know what happened to the ORIGINAL version I saw when I was child, on television???? This has SOME of the bits and pieces, but in my opinion, has been poorly 'sewn' together into a mockery of the first TV Special. Am I the only one who can tell where the cartoon has been pieced together due to poor colour matching and voices? Inspiring great family movie

Amazing Movie
The movie begins with Sputnik and ends the Space Shuttle. The movie tells the story of one family whose youngest son, after seeing Sputnik go across the sky, decided to build rockets. Most of the relationships are not well developed, but the relationship between the father and the youngest son is done well. They may have conflicts, but at the base is love and a growing respect.
Quite Unlike the Book
October Sky is a great movie, but the book is quite a bit different, and so much better.Homer (Sonny) Hickam's memoir is fundamentally about the relationship of the town of Coalwood, and his parents, especially his father.It is an intricate tale unlike the simpler version of the movie.Sonny and the Rocket Boys have a 3-year adventure, unlike the few months shown in the movie, and their rockets are much more sophisticated.Sonny's father (actually named Homer, unlike John in the movie) is a driven man, dedicated to keeping his mine safe.Ultimately, he sees Sonny (Homer, Jr.) as a mining engineer, not as a common miner as the movie indicates.The memoir is at turns laugh-out-loud funny and tear-jerkingly tragic.The film has those aspects but not nearly as powerful as the novel, despite the great performances of Jake Gyllenhaal and Chris Cooper. ... Worst Of The Bugs Bunny Movies!

Shortly after this came out, the media was swamped with well-meaning attacks on the violence in children's programming, much of which was directed at such classic cartoons as featured here - clearly a wrong-headed knee-jerk reaction gone too far. Perhaps that is why WB never re-released it on DVD. As it is, it is a prized member of my VHS collection, but I'd really like a newer one.Read more

Sweet, light and delightful...
Audrey Tautou makes this film more than what it would be without her.That's not to say that the plot is mediocre but without her the film itself wouldn't have stood out.As Amelie Audrey is wonderfully delightful, a true free spirit and a classic comedic talent.When Amelie finds a hidden tin in her apartment that belonged to a previous tenant she becomes determined to return it and once she has she decides to help others around her, from her father who's always wanted to vacation but never has because of Amelie's supposed heart condition as a child, to her workmate who needs a man.She tries helping an old man in her apartment as well as a tyrant grocer's assistant.But in the end she ends up helping herself for once and everything ends up happy.It's a very sweet story that's elevated by a brilliant performance by Audrey.

Broken Chain for your Eric Schewig collection is a must
I am a huge fan of Eric Schweig so I may be a little partial to any of his flicks.I did buy this movie from e-bay for my ERIC collection, (13 flicks total) AAH!! It wasn't bad for a TV flick.What can you really show viewers in just aone or two hour movie?I think it showed how supporting the backstabbing British did the 6 nations in. Eric did a great job in his role and he's not too bad to look at either. LUV YA, ERIC! I think more flicks like this need to be made to show the truth in what the white man did to the Native population. From starving them, paying for indian scalps,shipping them to Florida ,to infecting them with smallpox on blankets. You can get farther in this world with peace and compassion than fear and ignorance.PEACE:)

Really funny
The first half is a hoot the whole way through, it has to be the funniest Young Indy episode.The ending is great; I remember being surprised when I first watched it on TV, so I won't give it away.I'll just say Giulietta isn't as naive as she seemed. One of the best in the series to start with
Though the series is plagued with misguided efforts to steer Indy into the company of historical greats, this time Lucasfilm keeps the improbabilities to a minimum.This pleasant surprise allows Indy some interestingcharacter development.This is the only tape in which both hours aredevoted to romantic plot lines. WOW!
This has to be the best out of the titles released in the UK so far ('Phantom Train of Doom', 'Treasure of the Peacock's Eye', 'Daredevils of the Desert' and this itself). I know that may not be saying all that much,but this is truly a FANTASTIC chapter of Indiana Jones.Read more

Still remembered 13 years later...
Though I haven't seen this episode since it originally aired in 1992, I still see it so clearly in my memory. It is my absolute favorite out of the entire series. I still remember being astounded by the quality of the writing in the moment in which Schweitzer talks to Indy concerning his philosophy of "reverence for life," and thinking that nothing on TV at the time came close to the meticulous production values exhibited in every episode of the program. And probably very few things on network TV today can match it either, if anything (hard to say seeing as I watch barely any TV anymore). I highly recommend at least this episode, but there are many other fine ones as well. I only hope this series will be out on DVD very soon. It will probably look even more marvelous than it did originally!

Indy finally gets it, but forgets it.
I thought, from reading the description, that this would be boring.But it wasn't, not by a long shot.It's probably the best "Young Indy". Action, but above all, Indy learns to care about life!
In the other movies, Indy never seemed to care about human life.In this he learns lots about life, feelings and points of view.This movie should be seen by everyone who can see it!It teaches valuable lessons and isstill a classic Indiana Jones film.Read more
