4-0 out of 5 stars Godd film for when you're in the mood for hotties!
No one in this film would ever win an academy award for anything, no would the film itself. That aside, you'd have to look long and hard to find a film with more T&A (good stuff) than this ones got. The movie itself and the dumb plot are childishly enjoyable. One of the most hillarious elements is the carwash owner who seems to be immune to any type of testosterone attacks despite the fact that he's got scantily clad(or not!) women running around all over the place waiting for the chance to have sex! One hillarious film.

5-0 out of 5 stars Yes!!!
I have spent my life looking for the perfect T&A movie. This one is the one.As an adolescent I grew up watching this, and now as an adult I am honored to finally own my first copy.I will cherish this DVD with all my heart, and it will never leave my house. Thank you soft porn producer Joe Dusic, Thank You!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars What you want is what you get
The 2 Bikini Car Wash movies are superlative in delivering T & A.The plots are okay, they are much better than most B grade movies. My wife loves to watch both and never objects to the constant exposure of women's breasts. And that of course is the major appeal in these films.Bikini tops and other forms of women's clothing are constantly removed in situations sometimes ridiculous, but always appealing. These movies are enjoyed at a base level: if you enjoy seeing "naked breasts" as the star, Kristi Dukati, says at one point, then revel in these fun and diverting films.Don't expect an intricate plot with superior character development. But if you want fun and lots of breasts, these are the movies for you. ... Editorial Review

One of the lesser holiday movies, this 1949 comedy stars Janet Leigh as a war widow who can't afford to buy her son a toy train for Christmas. A veteran (Robert Mitchum) who happens to be standing by in a department store overhears her plight and offers to purchase the toy, thus setting into motion a series of funny complications. Wendell Corey plays Leigh's suspicious, condescending boyfriend, whose jealousy compounds Mitchum's problems, and Harry Morgan is very good as a night-court judge trying to make sense of everything that happens. The movie didn't do so well at the box office at the time of its release, but it has gained an affectionate fan base over the years. Don't expect Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A HIDDEN GEM
I discovered this movie on cable in the middle of late afternoon and it turned out to be a real gem and had to buy it. The story takes place during the Christmas season and involves a widow who must chose between a well to do sensible gentlemen, or a dreamer and romantic whose a bit down on his luck. A lot of fun and so much better than the Christmas movies made today which are neither fun nor as entertaining as this little known romantic Christmas classic.

5-0 out of 5 stars Holiday Affairclassic Christmas film
The editorial review of this film is incorrect in its plot summary. Janet Leigh plays a widowed mother working as a "secret shopper" purchasing items from rival department stores to make comparisons. Robert Mitchum plays the clerk in the toy department where Janet Leigh purchases a train set. From there things get delightfully complicated when she brings home the train set where her son sneaks a forbidden peek at a gift he hopes is for him. Wendel Corey plays the condescending fiance who turns out OK considering his outcome. Without giving too much more away, this is a really great film for the Christmas season.

5-0 out of 5 stars A HOLIDAY GEM!
I love this story of a widowed working mother post WW II with a small son, who must learn to let go of the past and trust love again. It should be put right up there with the other Christmas classics.I JUST WISH IT WAS ON DVD!! ... Read more

Kids love this Muppet take on Robert Louis Stevenson's pirate classic, about the pirate Long John Silver (Tim Curry) and his takeover of a ship in order to track down buried treasure. His friend and then nemesis is earnest cabin boy Jim Hawkins (Kevin Bishop), who teams with the captain of the ship (Kermit the Frog) and several shipmates (including Gonzo, Ratso, and Fozzie) to foil Long John's nefarious plot. An odd subplot finds Captain Kermit stopping at a desert island to find his long-lost love (Miss Piggy--who else?). The Muppets have not lost their wild sense of humor, which works on enough levels to amply entertain children and their parents in imaginative fashion. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Our kids sing the songs all the time!
Our kids (2, 3, 8 years old) absolutely love this movie, especially the soundtrack. After we've watched it, they go around for days singing the songs. I love the Muppets, too, and this movie is certainly not a hardship for parents to view along with their kids.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent movie!!
Great movie- laughs all the way through!!The songs are excellent and Tim Curry is hilarious.Muppets do it again! We have the video, but won't part with it until we replace it witht the DVD.I can't wait to receive it!!!!!!:)

5-0 out of 5 stars Worth it alone for the extras...
I remember seeing this in the movie theaters way back, and even then I found this to be an entertaining movie. Now seeing it again on DVD, it still holds the same delight.Of course, I'm a Muppet fan *and* a Tim Curry fan, so this one is right up my alley. But seriously, the director's commentary is superb. The information Brian Henson offers during the movie is entertaining (and he's just amusing to listen to), plus the 'Hidden Treasure' clips are great!Watch for Tim Curry arguing with a Muppet version of himself.I know, if you've seen the movie, it is hard to tell the difference. ;) ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Even Babies Love It!
My 4 month old loves this tape! I needed to buy a little time one day and Play With Me Sesame wasn't on TV at the time, so I remembered that I had this tape. Anyway, I popped it in and my daughter was mesmerized. While it is only 30 minutes, that's about all the television a little baby can handle before they need something else to do. I love it because I remember all the skits and it is very funny, even for adults, while some of the newer Sesame Street DVDs are so "kiddie" that they're hard to take. Forget Baby Einstein. This good ol' standard works just as well!

3-0 out of 5 stars Pretty Good...
most of these clips, (the theater, egypt, "That's What Friends Are For") had me laughing so hard i almost wet myself! But still, not enough songs. Not even "Rubber Duckie" or "Doin' The Pigeon". But still, if you want some of the most hilarious muppet moments ever, buy this video!

4-0 out of 5 stars Wish it was longer!
My son loves Bert and Ernie so I had to buy this video. It's not his favorite, Kids Favorite Songs 2 is, but he does sit down for this one. I can tell he's anticipating the rubber ducky song! A little disappointed it's conducted with Gina and Big Bird looking through a book to show you little clips on Bert and Ernie but it's a good video overall. Just wish it was a bit longer like the one hour Elmo tapes! By the time the half hour video is over and I can get another one in the vcr, my son is gone. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Clean, funny movie
Katherine Hepburn and Cary Grant at their prime! Hysterically funny movie about a "madcap" heiress and an archeological professor who is missing his "bone". One of the best!

5-0 out of 5 stars Bringing Up Baby
Bringing Up Baby might be the best screwball comedy ever, and is certainly one of the best. Cary Grant plays a staid, bespectacled professor of paleontology, engaged to a prim maiden who doesn't want to take time off from work to have a honeymoon. His life takes a sudden turn when he encounters a liberated society girl, played by Katherine Hepburn, at the golf course, where he is trying to impress the lawyer of a potential donor to his museum. She begins by playing his ball, and soon is driving away with his car, with the professor on the running board. Several adventures later, he and Hepburn are driving a tame leopard named Baby to her aunt's Connecticut estate, in a stolen car. Things don't really get crazy, however, until Baby escapes. Oh, yes - Baby loves dogs. Hepburn was never cast in a romantic farce before or since, but she is marvelous at it. The gags are so non-stop it's almost like a Marx Brothers movie. It's energy and wit carry it along to its breathless conclusion.

5-0 out of 5 stars May Charm Even Those Who Don't Like Screwball Comedy.
Now regarded as one of the greatest comedies ever made and perhaps the best example of screwball comedy to reach the silver screen, "Bringing Up Baby" was a box office failure in 1938. The film was adapted from a story by Hagar Wilde that had appeared in Collier's magazine, directed by Howard Hawks, and starred Cary Grant and Katherine Hepburn in her only screwball role -before her triumphant return to Hollywood in the 1940s. This was Hepburn's last film for RKO. She bought herself out of her contract and returned to Broadway. "Bringing Up Baby" was rediscovered and began its ascent to iconic status in the 1960s. I'm not usually a fan of screwball comedy, but I have to admit that Hepburn and Grant make this one irresistible. So what explains the film's initial failure? Some have speculated that the wealthy characters are not portrayed as sufficiently unworthy to please audiences during The Great Depression. Or perhaps people wanted to see a more romantic, less adversarial pairing.

5-0 out of 5 stars Long on Atmosphere, Short on Action - one of the best Westerns ever made
From the opening credits until the climactic confrontation at the end, this movie has the `feel' of a great Western. The tale is simple and relatively small in scope.A small town sheriff (played by John Wayne) and his ragtag groups of deputies and assistants (including Dean Martin, Ricky Nelson, and Walter Brennan) must hold a man (Claude Akins) arrested for murder in the town jail until the US Marshal arrives.Akins' brother, played admirably by John Russell, and his gang of ruffians will stop at nothing to break him out.Ward Bond, another longtime filmmate of Wayne's, also has a minor role.Angie Dickinson plays the love interest. This is a film about atmosphere and the interaction between the characters, not action, and is filled with multiple subplots. This film has the `feel' of the Old West, perhaps not as it really was, but as it should have been. The main line of the story progresses slowly, so if you are ADHD and can only keep interested with lots of gunfights and explosions, this film is probably not for you.Dean Martin's character is a recovering alcoholic and trying to become the man he once was.Wayne's character, while trying to hold his prisoner, is becoming entangled in a relationship with Angie Dickinson. It is really the development of these subplots and the relationships between the characters that make this film so memorable. One of the other reviewers states that this film is easy to watch, and I would agree.I can watch this movie over and over, and if you like Westerns with atmosphere, I think you will too.

5-0 out of 5 stars We want more of J.T.
Back when entertainment entertained, there was Rio Bravo, the Gesamtkunstwerk of the Old West, what with the Tiomkin score, Big Duke in front of the camera, Walter Brennan complaining from off screen, and Howard Hawks behind the camera. BTW, I understand that scenes containing Harry Carey, Jr., were left on the cutting room floor. How about restoring them?

5-0 out of 5 stars Sorry don't get it done, dude!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great 80's comedy
Comming of age in the 80's is getting made fun of lately, but I thought it was a good time to grow up with the exception of the advent of AIDS. People were dieing so fast and I lost teachers to that.It was not like today. This movie is really good and in the 1980's style. It is a great comedy. If you like the 80's and want to understand some of the refrences in the media where they keep saying Bueller repeated times see this movie. You will also get to see where the guy who does the clear eyes comercials go his start in this movie.Anyway perhaps you just might like the 80's if you do not already if you watch some of these good comming of age movies and listen to our music.

Bueller, Ferris Bueller
5-0 out of 5 stars Oh, the things this kid does...
Ferris Bueller (Matthew Broderick) is a kind of hero to every high-school aged young adult out there. He's the kind of guy whom we all want to be, really. He acts like he doesn't have a care in the world, and lives life to fullest. The opposite of this guy would be his best friend Cameron Frye (Alan Ruck), a sort of uptight worrywart who deserves to be brought out of his shell by the easygoing Ferris. In this film, Ferris fakes out his parents into calling it another "sick" day for him, his ninth to be exact. In order to convince just about everyone that he is really sick, he consults his collection of electronic sound effect equipment for the process. Another antithesis of Ferris is his life-is-not-fair sister Jeannie(Jennifer Grey) who suspects something is up, as does the sly-but-not-so-slick Dean of Students, Ed Rooney (Jeffrey Jones).

5-0 out of 5 stars If Adventure Has a Name...
It must be Indiana Jones! German East Africa, 1916:
5-0 out of 5 stars We did kidnap my father! It's a nightmare!
All right, I'm biased. When I watched the whole series on TV I was only about 7, so my memories of most of the episodes are all but nonexistent."Phantom Train" is one of the exceptions, and the most vivid in my mind.So naturally I enjoyed watching it again, even more than the others. It's great as a breather between "Trenches of Hell" and "Oganga", which are very thoughtful and serious. It is a tad hokey, but in that respect most like the Harrison Ford movies.Indy undergoes character developement, however, which is good. The first half has plenty of action, but Indy learns his lesson of the day, and this lesson actually sticks with him and is seen in the movies. That is, that the ability to improvise is a quality.5-0 out of 5 stars VERY, VERY GOOD VIDEO
I've been an Indiana Jones fan for over six years and this was one of the first young Indy videos I watched.I have seen about half of the episodes available on video and so far this is still my favorite. It had a good story with good acting and great special effects. It is a classic tale of adventure in Africa. In the first part of the video Indy accidently goes on a mission to blow up a mysterious train with a flat-bed mounted cannon that has been shelling allied troops but cannot be found. In the second part of the video, Indy and his army buddy Remmy try to survive the wilds of Africa with an important german military prisoner. They run into hostile bush-men, lions, and are being pursued by the entire German army the whole time.Action-packed and full of surprises along with nice bits of humor in appropriate places this video should delight anyone intereseted in Indiana Jones. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars They Really Are a Screa-um!
"The Addams Family" is a great treat to watch on video. The family famous is back with all it's glory on these videos. This is one of the few ways to see the show these days since TV Land dropped it in 1998. Though it was taped in SLP form, there wasn't much difference, partly because SP and SLP/EP modes record mostly in the same condition if it's in B&W. Now, for the episodes them selves:4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty good
These two shows were both pretty good, though not my favorites.I enjoyed the return of Mr. Hilliard, the emergence of Kitty Kat (their pet lion), and the way the Addams family terrified one or two people who ratherdeserved it.Some good parts: Wednesday and Pugsley's scuffle with anobnoxious boy (in which they get the better of him); Morticia and Gomez'sswordplay; the feeding of the piranhas; and Morticia's beloved plantsstrangling each other.I also loved it when Gomez told Morticia not toworry that Hilliard would drain the swamps -- all politicians do exactlythe opposite of their campaign promises!Read more

Editorial Review

One of Alfred Hitchcock's classics, this romantic thriller features a cast to kill for: Ingrid Bergman, Cary Grant, and Claude Rains. Bergman plays the daughter of a disgraced father who is recruited by American agents to infiltrate a post-World War II spy ring in Brazil. Her control agent is Grant, who treats her with disdain while developing a deep romantic bond with her. Her assignment: to marry the suspected head of the ring (Rains) and get the goods on everyone involved. Danger, deceit, betrayal--and, yes, romance--all come together in a nearly perfect blend as the film builds to a terrific (and surprising) climax. Grant and Bergman rarely have been better. 5-0 out of 5 stars Hitchcock, Grant, Bergman & Rains...perfection
This is quite simply one of the best suspense films I have ever seen.
5-0 out of 5 stars Tremendous Romantic Thriller
It's easy to see from "Notorious" why Cary Grant's name was bandied about to play James Bond -- his stellar performance here brings to life exactly the sort of conflicted emotions that are trademarks of the hard-edged but romanticized super agent in Ian Fleming's pages. In fact, it's not too hard to imagine that the author used the characterization when dreaming up 007.As an intelligence operative seeking to thwart post-war Nazis (led by an almost sympathetic Claude Rains), he is at once ruthless and noble in his determination to use the disgraced daughter (mesmerizing Ingrid Bergman) of a treasonous American to his advantage. That they fall in love is inevitable, but Hitchcock's stylish direction and the smart screenplay by Ben Hecht allow the proper amount of angst to make "Notorious" rise above simply being a well-crafted thriller. The performances by the three leads are impeccable, multi-layered and often quite subtle, with the only real flaw in the film being a need for about 10 more minutes of story to let things boil over more (the diabolical mother of the Rains character, for instance, never exactly gets her villainous moment in the sun.)Kudos to Hitchcock and Hecht for giving the bad guys the pretense of civility rather than simply making them the cartoonish thugs of lesser films.

4-0 out of 5 stars Don't Ever Leave Me.
Notorious is another critically acclaimed Alfred Hitchcock film. I knew the film was suppose to be good, and I can't say I was disappointed. The film's plot hooks you right from the beginning like most of Hitch's films, and keeps you entertained till the end. The characters were all likeable and interesting, but they were not Hitchcock's best. I think the only real problem the storyline had was that it seemed a little dated at times. Hitchcock's direction was amazing throughout the entire film. All of the ariel shots in Rio and Miami were beautiful. And Alicia's collapse/hallucination towards the end of the film was brilliant. Hitch definetly gave some outstanding work on his part. The film's acting was all great. Cary Grant played Devlin well, but it was probably not his best performance. While Ingrid Bergman was slightly annoying at first she quickly grew on me and pulled off Alicia very well. Rains and the rest of the supporting cast was great just as well. Overall, Notorious may not be Hitchcock at his best; but the intriguing plot, spot-on direction, and enjoyable performances will impress audiences. ... Read more

I am taking a trip to the Seattle area this week and decided that I wanted to have lunch at the Great Northern Hotel, owned by Benjamin Horne (est. 1927).The hotel, which offers its guests a spectacular view of Whitetail Falls, is located slightly north of Twin Peaks, just below the base of Black Lake. The Great Northern is actually the Salish Lodge, perched on a hillside just above Snoqualmie Falls. To prepare myself for the experience, and to indoctrinate my oldest daughter into yet another cult television show, we watched the first season of "Twin Peaks" together starting with the two hour pilot episode that originally aired Sunday, April 8, 1990 on ABC.Fifteen years later, this pilot episode written by Mark Frost ("Hill Street Blues") and David Lynch ("Blue Velvet") still stands up.
4-0 out of 5 stars Start here.
This is pretty much what any fan of the show or David Lynch needs to start with. It's the original movie/pilot, and is a great piece of work. The story, the characters, and the whole northwest environment really make for an interesting and sometimes creepy watch. Many cool actors showed up in "Twin Peaks", among them Kyle McLachlan, Lara Flynn-Boyle, Sheryl Lee, Jack Nance, and the sexy Sherilyn Fenn. If you enjoy this, seek out the VHS collectors series, episodes 1-7. Or the DVD first season, which is also episodes 1-7, minus this pilot. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Nothing like the movie
I too would highly recommend the book over the movie. Except for the title and the names of the characters this movie has little to do with the book.

2-0 out of 5 stars The Shepherd of the Hills
I watched this movie after having read the book.Unfortunately, the movie twisted the whole story around and was not true to the book at all.I felt that the book was an uplifting story and the movie was much darker.I guess the movie is okay, if you haven't read the book, but I would have loved to see the story told as it was in the book.I would highly recommend the book "The Shepherd of the Hills" over the movie.

5-0 out of 5 stars UNKNOWN CLASSIC
This film is one of the finest low profile American films I have ever seen. It deserves a much wider audience. Visually it is absolutely stunning. The scenery, especially that of Moanin Meadow, always makes me yearn for summer in the Adirondacks. The color is rich and lends perfectly to the visual landscape. The narrative realizes the haunting quality of its story. Every performer in this film lends exceptional support to the drama. Beulah Bondi was never better and the always enjoyable Marc Lawrence is an absolute suprise, perfect in a part you would not associate him with. The theme music, later heard as a song sung by Fuzzy Knight, has a wonderfully sentimental quality. Sadly, this film is not available on dvd as of this writing. Get the vhs copy; it is worth it. Harry Carey, John Wayne, Betty Field, Marjorie Main, the whole cast all hit the target. It just renews my spirit every time I watch it. ... Read more

Great movie for historic accuracy.Every American needs to know about World War I & II

5-0 out of 5 stars great story!
I saw this movie as a child, but when I recently watched it again, I was surprised at the depth it showed. When I watched it before, I was too young to truly understand the character development of Taylor's Podhajsky and Jurgens' General Telheim. They both did excellent jobs in their respective roles. I enjoyed seeing the horses perform and watching Eddy Albert ride one of them. Filming, casting, and music were all superb. I highly recommend it!

5-0 out of 5 stars wonderful story
I first saw this movie at a theater when I was a teenager.Recently I took my nieces to see the descendants of the white stallions live.I tried to rent the movie so they could understand the history of the horses, but I could not find one in my town.I didn't think I could find one, I was very happy to find one on Amazon.com.This is such a wonderful story of how dedicated people can save a piece of history. We should not forget how devastating war can be on the innocent animals and people. ... Editorial Review

Vacationing in northern California, Alfred Hitchcock was struck by a story in a Santa Cruz newspaper: "Seabird Invasion Hits Coastal Homes." From this peculiar incident, and his memory of a short story by Daphne du Maurier, the master of suspense created one of his strangest and most terrifying films. Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Was there ever a scarier movie?
I saw this movie again a few years ago and found that I could not view the scenes of the birds attacking the house or the telephone booth. And the scene with the birds occupying just about every available space near the school yard once again gave me the heebie-jeebies!
5-0 out of 5 stars The Birds is Still A Great Film
I've seen The Birds many times, and still love it everytime. It is probably my favorite Hitchcock film.
