5-0 out of 5 stars A Magical Movie Gets Shoddy DVD Treatment
I'm not going to re-review this movie because the almost universal raves say it all.The true tragedy is that this magical movie's exceptional flying sequences are muddled in this terrible full screen transfer.Watching this in full screen is like watching Lawrence of Arabia or Dr. Zhivago in full screen ... pointless. Please give this movie a new widescreen transfer ... it more than deserves it.

3-0 out of 5 stars We desperately need this one in letterbox!!!
I give this film three stars only because of its shoddy treatment on DVD.Otherwise, I would give it five stars.I remember a strikingly different theme used during the opening scenes of the film, during which time the black-and-white photographs are shown. On one HBO showing of the film many years ago, the opening scenes used the same music that appears at around 19:30 into the film, when MaryBeth, Waldo and Axel are in a bar.As a result, I don't know which theme was used in the film as originally released.
5-0 out of 5 stars Why is it so difficult to get so many of the really great movies on DVD?
This movie is pure pleasure for young, old, male or female. It would be nice if movies like this would come out in widescreen DVD for those who appreciate what movies were intended to do. ENTERTAIN. The flying sequences are marvelous. Redford is great, as always and the storyline is wonderful. Let's get this released in widescreen ASAP please. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Quite different from Volume 1 but also astonishing
The second part of Tarantino's martial arts epic is quite different from the first in many aspects. It begins with more revelations about what happened to the massacre at the small chapel and goes on with the revenge taken by the "bride". This time though the bad people have some nasty surprises for the heroine who faces the most desperating situation that you can imagine. I really enjoyed the flash-back to the heroine's training as a student of a cruel but wise Chinese master of martial arts and the fight with the one-eyed opponent had a very deserving and surprising finale. Bill has also some aces up in his sleeve but not the ultimate one which the "bride" applies in the end. A powerful and more philosophical film than Part One. The end is a triumph of love, as simple feelings of the kind that ordinary people experience, overcome and transform the highly trained killer.

5-0 out of 5 stars The secrets of Kill Bill 1&2
Ok,ill just inform yall on something but first for anyone whos seen the first and not the second well just so you dont have to wait any longer her name is Biatrix Kiddo,oh and just so you know i lied im not actually gonna give all the secrets i just told you what her name was so you diddnt freak your serlves out about it,anyways this one to me was some what better than the first(which was fantastic)when i saw the second kill bill movie at first i wasnt so sure if she was gonna have it in her to kill you-know-who and even though uma therman isnt so pretty shes an extraordinary actress i always loves how she got in to her character.well i dont wanna give to to much away well i think youll like this one a little bit better than the first
5-0 out of 5 stars Tragic Love Story
Despite all the violence, at its core, Kill Bill 2 is a love story. The Bride, played by Uma Thurman, is physically tortured during certain scenes in this movie. However, the emotional distress she experiences concerning her feelings for Bill is extraordinary. It is obvious she is deeply conflicted and confused. It is also apparent that The Bride and Bill share a deep bond despite attempts to kill each other. This is especially evident during her the last scene involving The Bride and Bill. This movie comes highly recommended. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Sad But True
I'm not a particularly big sports fan so I am not qualified to rate the football sequences of this film but by impression is that there is nothing wonderful about them. That's fine because they are beside the point. They are just an incidental part of the story. The real story is of the aging athletes.

4-0 out of 5 stars A better halftime show than Janet Jackson
This is an unsparing, unsentimental look at pro football in which the players are alternately brutes, and slaves to management.Coaches shamelessly manipulate the players and then discard them the moment injury strikes; the players are drugged up in order to coax them onto the field, while at the same time the unpopular players are ensnared by drug charges in order to trap them at contract renegotiation time.

1-0 out of 5 stars If you LIKED this film, DON'T buy this video!
I only gave this VIDEO one star, but I'd give the FILM 4 stars. I really like this film, in spite of some of the implausable ideas like a single person being able to arm our nuclear arsenal. However, this particularvideo being sold (which I bought and have just now viewed) is MASSACRED! It looks & sounds like someone set up a camcorder in their living room& taped the movie off their TV. The sound is TERRIBLE, the framing cutsoff any captions & subtitles, and, to add insult to injury, they CUTOUT the last 10 minutes of the film showing the journey back to thesurvivors in Antartica -- it ends with the world being destroyed by thenuclear explosions! Shame on whoever did this! Now I have to go try to buya used Beta machine on eBay so I can watch my old Beta tape of this movie! ... Read more

Watch out.I bought a used version of this movie on half.com.The picture was very grainy and the scene where Kor(Bo Svenson) gets drunk, walks through the forest, bumps into a tree and passes out is cut out of the movie. If you want to have a good copy of this movie, than wait till the Scifi Channel shows it again and tape it.Scifi channel doesn't cut out the before mentioned scene and the picture won't be as grainy.

5-0 out of 5 stars A movie so bad, one has to see it.
This movie is so bad that one has to see it.I'm pretty sure its musical score was tooken from the score done by James Horner for the movie, Krull. In the beginning of the movie it says, "Bo Svenson in" and then it says, "Wizards of the Lost Kingdom."Who the hell is Bo Svenson?I've never heard of him. This movie does have some charm though. When watching this, I couldn't take my eyes off the bad acting, bad direction, etc.I'm not joking.I watched this thing all the way through and despite the fact that it was horrible, I loved it.I wish they would show more of that Bo Svenson. He really steals the show. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars The Greatest Film of All Time
This is a marvelous film.Fred Williamson's performance is both tear-jerking and thought provoking.I greatly enjoy motion pictures about black militants filmed in Italian and dubbed into English.Great...

1-0 out of 5 stars TERRIBLE!!!
OK, the tagline is great - "If you're a kraut, he'll take you out," but that's about the only good thing in this movie. It's not even campy-funny good, it's just awful.Considering it was shot in Italian and dubbed, I'm not surprised. Also, considering Italy had to import everything cool about it - Roman Gods, tomatoes, and now blaxploitation movies, it's a wonder Venice is still such a great place to visit.

2-0 out of 5 stars What a Bore!
My friends and I love to watch great B-movies, but this is just a BAD B-movie.I fell asleep halfway through it, if that gives you any idea. The premise is decent, but G.I. Editorial Review

This typical but well-made action movie, which spawned numerous sequels, means to combine the best elements of the disaster movie with the hard-boiled attributes of traditional action-adventures. When a plane is hijacked to the Middle East by Palestinian terrorists, the Pentagon calls into action the Delta Force, an elite squad of highly trained commandos led by tough guy mainstay Lee Marvin and karate-action-star Chuck Norris. Their mission is simple: to thwart the terrorists and rescue the hostages, and the plot concentrates largely on just that, as the team uses its experience and fighting skills to get the job done. Its sometimes preachy patriotic bent occasionally gets in the way of the action, and Norris is a one-dimensional figure who at times takes himself too seriously, but his rapport with easygoing veteran Marvin moves the film over some implausible rough spots. While not a groundbreaking contribution to the genre, Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Chuck Norris uses a night light because the dark is afraid of Chuck Norris.
I would say this is the great Chuck Norris movie, no wait, the greatest movie of all-time except for one thing. And that is that all Chuck Norris movies are created equal and better then the movies like the Godfather, Schlinder's List, Back Door Sluts 9, and Braveheart combined.Chuck Norris is a much better actor then Tom Hanks and Marlon Brando because he knows karate.Hell Chuck Norris invented Karate as well as Judo, Kung Fu, and Hamster style Jap Slapping.Do yourself a favor and buy this movie so you can call yourself a man.And if your a woman buy this movie and pray Chuck Norris comes to your house and gets you pregnant.
5-0 out of 5 stars You people are missing the point
Chuck Norris does so much damage in this movie that it makes up for every negative aspect of the movie. Chuck Norris is so incredibly awesome, and all action sequences involving Chuck Norris had me raising my fists and shouting "YES!" This movie is a classic, not because of the acting or the costuming or the props (I found it amusing that the entire Delta Force was armed with Israelian mini-Uzis)or the story even, but because Chuck Norris kicks so much ass. Chuck Norris unarmed is deadly enough, but give him a sub-machine gun, bazooka, or motorcycle tricked out with machine guns, rocket launchers, and mortars, and he is the most deadly creature to ever walk the Earth, and the terrorists in this movie learn that fact the hard way. I recommend this movie to anyone who understands how truly awesome a Chuck Norris movie can be. Also, check out Octagon. The first half of the movie is boring, but it picks up after Chuck Norris bangs a hot brunette and then sneaks into a secret ninja training facility to slaughter countless ninjas and avenge his brother who died at the hands of the ninja-master. Chuck Norris is just so awesome.

Lots of people insist that this movie is cheap ha the special effects were nice (back in 1988they were amazing)this movie is very entertaning too.Too bad theres no dvd its worth alot more people are selling it for

2-0 out of 5 stars horror movie contains a few good ideas but its too cheap
this is a low budget movie from some of the same people who brought onwelcome to springbreak,so both movies have some things in commun;they bothfeature a teenage sarah buxton, violence, murder, bad language, very littlesuspense or tension (w2springbreak is slightly better in those 2 lastcategories) ,some teens dancing to a pop band s music, very little nudity(this one features a small breast nipple of a bloody dead teengirl)and astory that you wished was told in 45 minutes instead of 90.the cover of thevideo box may make you think that thefilm contains some kind of monsterbut you d be wrong. all it features is some sort of monkeys and so most ofthe movie only features cheap blood effects.i bought this movie because ibecame a big fan of sarah buxton(who can be seen on the CBS soap the boldand the beautiful)but i really wish she hadn t done this film in which sheseems to be wearing make up borrowed from the exorcist.like in most cheapmovies, the best is saved for the last(15 minutes)where there s some original costumes and a slight scare.this may prove that the film may havehad a few good ideas but unless you re a passionate sarah buxton fan or acurious person, there s not much you ll miss by never seeing this movie. ... I recently bought this movie and was very intrigued.Bo Svenson plays a wonderful bank robber and Cybill Shepherd shows up in the picture flirting with Bo Svenson because she seen where he hid the money while he was being chased by the police. His accomplices are either dead or have been arrested and he is the only one left. While running from the cops he hides half a million dollars in a mailbox. Now he has to figure out a way to get the money. There are a few people who know where the money is and now Bo and Cybill have to get the money and get away before someone else gets the money.A chase scene is underway and Bo and Cybill are trying to get the money and run. This movie was wonderful. Editorial Review

The controversial, Reagan-era invasion of Grenada by U.S. troops is, oddly enough, at the center of this initially interesting story of a seasoned Marine sergeant (Clint Eastwood) routinely insulted by younger officers for being a symbol of the war that America "lost" in Vietnam. Looking for both a victory and a little redemption, Eastwood's character trains a squadron of scrappy pups and turns them into fighting grunts, just in time to follow White House orders and take the little island. Marsha Mason plays Eastwood's love interest, and Mario Van Peebles is funny as an undisciplined con artist who joins Clint's men and finally catches the spirit after getting his butt kicked a few times. 1-0 out of 5 stars Worst movie Eastwood ever made
This movie is so bad that even the Army, which supported it at first, withdrew there support.Eastwood's character started his career in the US Army during the Korean War where he fought in a battle later called "Heartbreak Ridge".The story line was so inept and the telling of the tale so bad that the Army withdrew its support in the production. The film company then had to rewrite to scipt so that Eastwood's character changes services and enlist in the USMC after the Korean War and fights in the Vietnam War.
5-0 out of 5 stars "Shut your mouth, Hippie!"
An excellent movie, Heartbreak Ridge, brings to the screen the story of a down-on-his-luck sergeant in the U.S. Marines who is given another chance/shot at what he loves the most: his job, his woman, and his men.
2-0 out of 5 stars False advertising
I remember when this came out on video, I was managing a video store and expanding my reading of military history out of WWII and into other areas- Korea, Vietnam, WWI, etc. Hoping for a high-quality film of the battle of Heartbreak Ridge in Korea. Ended up with made-for-tv feel of boot camp, and then the dramatic climax in.....Grenada. Yep, Grenada. Admittedly, that's all they had to work with, but still I get the feeling that Clint would like to forget this movie more than I would. That being said, if you just want to see some really accurate uniforms and a few war-movie cliche characters, by all means invest your time. For a better time, check out the 1959 movie "Pork Chop Hill" produced and directed by Gregory Peck. Although full of heavy-handed evil godless commie sterotype imagery, still much better than this one here. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Vengeance is Mine Sayeth Buford
Near the end of the Original WALKING TALL, Sheriff Pusser's wife is killed while the mob is attempting to kill him. Now it is time for payback. There are a few changes, though.
4-0 out of 5 stars not as good as the first but...
Bo Svenson is damned good in this. No he ain't the actor we were used to having in the role since he ain't Joe Don Baker but he's very good in this. He has a real integrity about him and conveys a hunger for justice.

2-0 out of 5 stars Walking Small
The original "Walking Tall", despite its low budget, was highly entertaining and commercially successful. The cast was very strong (particularly Baker and Hartman), the script was sound, and the direction was good. However, this sequel was shot by a different studio, with acting, direction, and script which are glaringly inferior to its predecessor.Joe Don Baker wisely declined to reprise his role as Buford, so the role went to Bo Svenson, who doesn't possess the acting skill required for a deodorant commercial, and who once again delivers a typically rotten performance. He is so bad in his role as the sheriff that one almost cheers for the villains, in the hope that someone will get this clown off the screen, and rescue viewers from further boredom. In fact, he should have been arrested for attempting to impersonate an actor.Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Far And Away The Best Of The "Curse" Movies
There were four movies released under the banner of "The Curse" series, all of them totally unconnected unless one really uses one's imagination and makes up ties between them (the first was loosely based on an H.P. Lovecraft story and involved a meteorite bringing some kind of transforming contaminant to a farm.I suppose you could look at it as that virus eventually infected the snakes in this movie.)"The Bite" is, in my opinion, easily the best of the run, although none of them were out-and-out clunkers."The Curse II: The Bite" is also one of a long list of horror movies from the late 80s/early 90s on backward to the dawn of movies that still hasn't gotten the DVD release it deserves. At least it's in good company: "Spellbinder", "Night Terrors", a number of Hammer Horror movies (from further back than the 80s, obviously), "Cutting Class", "Elves" "Buried Alive" (1990 version with Tim Matheson, Jennifer Jason Leigh and William Atherton) and "The Channeller" are among the others patiently awaiting their DVD debut. At least "From Beyond" and "Basket Case 2" are tentatively booked for release sometime in the not-too-distant future. In the meantime, thankfully, the VHS remains readily available (although unfortunately this version is without the awesome cover art that adorned the original release).
4-0 out of 5 stars Good, gory fun!
Having nothing to do with the first CURSE film, this flick is the story of a young couple traveling across the southwestern US who decide to take a short-cut through an abandoned nuclear testing site. BAD IDEA. In one of the most hilarious scenes of 80s horror, the kids' truck suddenly runs across a highway FULL OF SNAKES. We're talking HUNDREDS of them. Eventually the guy gets bit by one of the radioactive snakes, and from then on he's slowly changing and mutating into one! The end of the film is one of the grossest scenes I can ever recall watching, and I've seen plenty of gory stuff. While the whole movie isn't on par with classics like DEAD ALIVE or the first two EVIL DEAD movies, there's still plenty of goofy stuff and gore galore to keep you entertained. And then there's Jill Schoelen, the absolute QUEEN of bad 80s horror movies. Quite the doll, she is, and in top form in this flick. Good, fun stuff! I can't wait to order it! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars underrated treasure!
In 1973 Dan(Dark Shadows)Curtis produced this made-for tv 2-part adaptation of FRANKENSTEIN for ABC's late night programming.Unfortunately, because the similar FRANKENSTEIN:THE TRUE STORY appeared on TV the same year in prime time with a stronger cast, the Dan Curtis version retreated to the shadows. So FRANKENSTEIN:TTS is the one everybody remembers. Thanks to video,we can see what we missed and it's very good!Robert Foxworth is a good Victor Frankenstein and Bo Svenson is a credible creature. This is not Mary Shelley's story, nor is it a mere copy of previous adaptations.Obviously low budget, but highly enjoyable. ...
