3-0 out of 5 stars John Stamos Rides Again
This is one of my favorite action movies.I originally watched it because of John Stamos, but now that I don't really care one way or another about him, I still appreciate the movie a little for what it is; a motorcycle/war/action flick.Stamos does a bang-up job, there is an exploding motorcycle for those who resonate to that, and of course, a little love story on the side. So, if you like Stamos, or if you like to see motorcycles burst into flames, watch this movie.

Somebody in Hollywood thought there was some fish-out-of-water potential in this teaming of wild man Woody Harrelson and slow-burning Kiefer Sutherland as a pair of New Mexico cowboys who go to New York to tame the wild, wild, uh ... East. Well, they were mistaken, because this 1994 action-comedy is little more than a tiresome reworking of Read more

its very funny, a great comedy with a decent story line.... if you like cowboy humor this is a great video to check out!

3-0 out of 5 stars Good son, bad son.
Not the greatest rodeo movie ever made but by no means the worst.
2-0 out of 5 stars Crime Solving Cowboys In the Big City...What A Concept!
I guess it's still true (to some degree anyway) that being a MOVIE STAR has more, uh, cachet to it than being a TV actor. But sometimes you have to wonder why.Watching this mediocre-at-best 1994 effort featuring former TV star Woody Harrelson, future TV leads Kiefer Sutherland and Dylan McDermott, you just might wonder why that's the case. These actors can all be justifiably proud of their work on (respectively) CHEERS, 24, and THE PRACTICE.I can't imagine that they bring up this film much in conversation as being one of the highlights of their careers.

3-0 out of 5 stars Two police officers must swap lives in order to retrieve some stolen drugs.
A moderately decent film. It's got Martin Lawrence, Will Smith, and this gang who are heroin dealers. Lawrence and Smith play two police officers who are to chase down these dealers who are also guilty of multiple homicides. Plus you got some great music and wonderful lines like those from the theme song. Anyone who likes films should think about getting this DVD for their collection.
5-0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable stuff!
Jerry Bruckheimer and Michael Bay make an excellent team! When they work together, explosions rock the screen, profanity is spewed between characters, and corpses far outnumber the amount of lines spoken. This is one of Will Smith's early ventures in film, and to be honest, I think this is his breakthrough role as Mike Lowrey, a playboy cop with a taste for gritty gunfights. Martin Lawrence is hilarious as Mike's partner, Marcus Burnett, a family man whose gig constantly interferes with his family life. Tea Leoni is okay, but not great, and her role seems a bit weird, as though it was just randomly stuck in the plot. The bad guy is a typical villain, with few lines and a thick accent. The action scenes are, of course, Bruckheimer-worthy, and so you wont be disappointed. The cinematography adds to the film's good parts. Overall, a movie that is fun, brainless stuff.

4-0 out of 5 stars pretty fun action
This movie is very fun and full of action. If you can get past the cursing, it's well worth it.Will Smith and Martin Lawrence are almost too much fun as cop partners who go deep undercover to recover stolen police evidence (drugs).Tea Leoni is also hilarious in the film and serves as a great counterpoint to the cocky buddy cops. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars The ultimate act of recycling just woke up.
A very very stylized, starkly minimalistic, risky vision of the idea of life without birth, a la Frankenstein, involving a military funded operation to build the perfect soldier with the use of body parts from eighty-eight individuals. The "Stitch Project" initially appears to be a success until the creation begins to remember those who he was and those who he loved. A more "thinking/talking" than "doing/action" piece (until the last few scenes). Intriguing and weird at the same time. Definitely won't be everyone's cup of tea.
5-0 out of 5 stars Conceptual Masterpiece
I was lucky enough to tune into the Sci-Fi channel tonight at 3am when Mr. Stitch came on. I havent seen this movie for years but the impression it left the first time seeing it has been left in my mind ever since.
1-0 out of 5 stars Mr. Stitch! SO MUCH DRECK PACKED INTO 99 MINUTES = PAIN!
This film was by far the worse criminally boring thing I have ever set eyes on.I thought I had seen the most boring movie when I looked at "The Right Stuff" which given its length is still #1 for my totally aweful bore award.Mr. Stitch has NO Redeeming value at all making it moment for moment by far the most boring waste of time.At least "The Right Stuff" had great subject matter that just happened to be true.

1-0 out of 5 stars Horribly Boring.....
My advice: skip this one.I was hoping for a cheesy monster flick, but this was pretty unbearable. The monster effects weren't too bad and the locations were better than some studio movies (looks like it was shot in some real caves).I think it had potential. What screwed that up was the dragging plot.It went on and on without going anywhere. No amount of editing could fix it either.Never being funny or scary the movie was a real let down.Skip it.

1-0 out of 5 stars Very bad movie,by far the worst horror movie ever
This is one pathetic, sorry excuse for a horror movie and quite possibly the worst ever made with really bad acting, cheap, really cheap special efects(Ketchup and fake blood look more realistic) and those computer graphics were horrible, and the movie is plotless with production values of a home movie and the worst part is that atrocious organ music in the background.
1-0 out of 5 stars THE GRIM SLEEPER
One word can sum up this movie:boring.Forget the lack of really good effects; acting; writing; direction.Forget the fact that the monster looks like an actor in heavy ineffectual makeup.I can accept cheesy horror movies, but none that are so boring as GRIM.The pacing is superlethargic, and the musical background atrocious. There were no scares, and only a few unintended laughs.Like where did Steve get the gong and hammer to play? And if Grim could walk through walls, how come he got clobbered by a collapse?Totally inane, and unfortunately, boring! ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Roger Avary Proves Himself to Be Worthy
I was drawn to see this because Roger Avary was the man who came up withthe idea for "The Gold Watch" segment in my favorite movie "Pulp Fiction".
4-0 out of 5 stars Highly violent entertainment
It's easy to discuss 'Killing Zoe's problems; they are, after all, plentiful and in clear view. It's hard to deny, though, that it's an incredibly entertaining movie. It's important not to be misled by the treacherous phrase 'from the creators of Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction'; Killing Zoe was directed by Roger Avary, who may has a co-writer's credit on Pulp Fiction but his part in it was quite small; in Reservoir Dogs all his actually did was write the radio dialogue that runs in the background. Quentin Tarantino was executive producer, but clearly had no influence on the creative side of the movie. The presence of Tarantino's name on the Killing Zoe DVD is a double-ended sword; on the one hand, it's what made me notice it and pick it up in the first place, and I'm sure it helped a lot in the film's sales when it was first released. On the other, it inevitably creates some high expectations, and these can hinder your enjoyment from the movie, as they did mine. Because while Killing Zoe shares with Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction some themes of crime, drugs, sex and honor among thieves, it shares none of Tarantino's witty, sarcastic edge and cultural awareness.
4-0 out of 5 stars "Killing Zoe" Review
Eric Stoltz is a safe-cracker from America who teams up with a childhood friend and his sadistic crew of French heroin-addict bank robbers to take down a Federal Reserve in the heart of Paris. Things go violenty wrong (as is usually the case in "heist" films) when said friend goes berserk. Outrageously violent and filled with dark humor, "Killing Zoe" is like "Reservoir Dogs" on speed-balls. In fact, Quentin Tarantino executive-produced this one along with "Dogs" producer Lawrence Bender. While the movie is not classified as a foreign film, a good portion of it is spoken in French with English subtitles. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars "You gotta swear you won't kill nobody with these guns."
Lots of indiscriminant murder and Rose McGowan behind the wheel of a pink 58' Olds with a cigar perched between her trademark red lips...what more could you ask for? You know, I love that girl but somebody finally figured out the real key to her intoxicatingly wicked charm is to keep her silent throughout the entire film. Just the hottest little demon from Hell homewrecker since Joan Crawford!(Spoiler alert) She has one line in the movie and it's worth waiting for, or maybe you'll just want to fast forward to the last scene to hear it for yourself. Her facial expressions and hand gestures are a lot more effective than the dialogue here anyway which is just downright stupid. I wish there was another word that better describes the pure dumbassity of this movie but there just ain't one. 5-0 out of 5 stars She's bad, but she's NOT bad
Did you like The Doom Generation? So did I, actually, I like it a bit more than a healthy person probably should. Rose was in that movie constantly, and she was, to put it kindly, quite vocal. I enjoyed this. So I couldn't imagine wanting to watch a movie in which she plays a "mute" - why watch a movie without that incredible voice? You know what's even better about Rose McGowan than her voice (hey, get your mind out of the gutter)? Her eyes. Guess how someone who is mute expresses themselves... with their eyes! Wow! The way she uses those eyes to reduce people to insect-status is incredible (guy... "Can you hear?" Rose's eyes... "You are an idiot" you... "whoa, those are great eyes"). So what can I say? Love Rose McGowan's eyes, love this movie. Don't love Rose McGowan's eyes, well, I can't comprehend such a thing, so I can't comment in that case.

1-0 out of 5 stars Incredibly inept writing, acting and direction.
An annoying trio of characters, an I'm-so-hip tone, atrocious writing and shooting, and a relentlessly smutty tone...this one, for me, didn't evenquality as "bad is good".Not even worth the rental price. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Natural Born Killer's/Y Tu' Mama Tambien (except not as 1/2 as good as either)
Well I bought the VHS version of this film for three bucks at half price books because while I was glancing over the back I noticed that it was directed by Gregg Araki. I am not what you would call an Araki fan just because I had only seen one mof his other films before this one, Mysterious Skin. I happened to absolutly love that film, I really didnt know of Araki's other works so when I saw that Araki made "The Doom Generation" I was excited to see how this film compared to "Mysterious Skin" ...
1-0 out of 5 stars Spare yourself. Trust me.
I saw this movie about 5 years ago, and it still holds the as-of-yet undisputed title as the single worst film I've ever seen. The acting is horrendous and the script consists of nothing more than meaningless dialogue coupled with a truly laughable attempt at symbolism. For example, almost every number that appears in the movie is 666: the hotel room, the amount of money the main characters' purchases come to, and so on. The average 6th grader who recently discovered his parents' Ozzy records might find that way cool and deep, but any self respecting moviegoer should know otherwise.
4-0 out of 5 stars Indie Film that delivers
This is so far off the beaten path and Hollywood's radar... and that is what I love about it. Greg Araki chooses really good-looking people and gets the most out of them.I wish we could have seen more of Jonathon Sheck's body. He's a winner, but his portrayal in this movie is kind of a stock kooky character he plays.James Duval on the other hand is just amazing as the innocent, naive and totally dominated younger guy. He's the real star of the film to me.It's not the kind of movie to show your parents, but if you like them sort of weird and very independent. This is one to get. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars An excellent film with a couple of weak spots.
This film is not in any way a typical gangster film in the American sense; it is a subtle, intricate drama of human relationships that develop around a highly nefarious criminal syndicate. Gong Li, as always, is fabulous. The story is believable, effective, and has some wonderful twists.
4-0 out of 5 stars Good setting and atmosphere of 1930s Shanghai violence
This 1995 Chinese film is set in the flamboyant gangster era of the 1930s in Shanghai. We see it through the eyes of a 14 year old boy who is a distant relative of the gang leader and comes from the country to work as a servant to the gangster's mistress played by the beautiful Gong Li.She's arrogant, harsh and demanding and it's easy to dislike her.
5-0 out of 5 stars Decadent, Cool and Highly Enjoyable
This is a movie I think people either like a lot or dislike a lot. I've seen it twice in movie houses and now three times on DVD. It's a cool film, decadent to the core and with only one really likeable character, a 14 year old boy. I'm one of those who like it a lot.

The movie was pretty much a dud until the final one "Wet". WOW!2-0 out of 5 stars Tales of Silliness
The Video "Tales of Erotica" which has 4 short movies is basically Tales of "Silliness" since none of the stories are based on erotic reality. My favorite was the final story, "Wet" which featured the beautiful Cynda Williams. The only erotic and exciting thing about this video is it's 4th story "Wet" and the nude shot of Cynda William's perfectly shaped buttocks as she rises from the hot tub dripping "wet" from the bubbly water......she is definitley worth looking at.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not a review for the Leonard Maltin film mentioned above
The Erotic Tales video I'm reviewing has Mira Sorvino on the cover as pictured, and is 4 short stories. The Mira Sorvino one is so forgettable that I can't think of a thing to say, only that Mira doesn't get particularily erotic or nude. The Melvin Van Peebles episode was laughable, repeditive, and again not erotic.....no, only the Ken Russell episode made this worthwhile. Not erotic "spank" material to be sure, but it kept me interested, and I found it intriguing, erotic to a degree, and I was dissappointed when that segment finished. ... Read more

I enjoyed this movie altho I foundone of the principal actors a bit to affected to be believable.JAMES BROLIN does a fine job as a first timedirector as well as taking the lead role .PATRICK FOYdoes well as the reluctant hero and GARY COOK as the IRA head is well cast. The only problem I had was that it was a bit cliched but then it is getting more and more difficult to come up with and original idea no matter what the story.Watch out for the BILL MURPHY cameo. He plays paddy kelly an IRA activist with the fire of freedom burning in his belly.Stunning scene.

    Editorial Review

Filmmaker Hal Hartley is something of an acquired taste. But if you can get on his oddball, deadpan wavelength, you can't help but enjoy his films--and this is one of his best. Isabelle Huppert plays a former nun who now works as a pornographer. She connects with Martin Donovan, playing a fellow who's lost his memory, but whose past may contain particularly nasty stuff. As they look for a way to get away from that past (which includes a couple of hit men who look like stockbrokers), the two discuss the meaning of their lives in hilariously vague ways. Hartley's dialogue is tart and concise, filled with acidic but low-key humor. And Donovan, who also starred in the director's equally good Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars The Hartley Factor
Typically, Hartley's films are not for everyone (some might argue they're not for anyone). Still, if you've got the patience, you familiarize yourself with the style of writing, pacing and acting, you'll be rewarded.Or you could just be like me and instantly devour everything Hartley writes, shoots and films with an insatiable appetite.Whatever works for you.
4-0 out of 5 stars Who is "this man?"
"Do you know this man?" During the opening scene of AMATEUR "this man" finds himself sprawled out on a cobblestone road outside an apartment building in New York. After recovering, he'll find that his fall from a second floor window has deprived him of his memory, and in an amnesiac haze he'll stumble into a diner where a self-professed nymphomaniac ex-nun (who is still a virgin 15 years removed from the convent) and wanna-be writer of smut, will adopt him as part of what she believes to be a mission from God - her calling. The more she finds out about "this man's" unseemly past the deeper she finds herself immersed in a web of blackmail and violence, with a former porn actress and three accountants, two of which are assassins. Is "this man" the sum of all the facts that we have gleaned from others? Is "this man" really the vicious monster that his ex-wife and former business associate claim? Is "this man" the same man since he has lost his memory? Does anyone really know anyone? In AMATEUR every character is running away - unsuccessfully - from their identities and desperately trying to reinvent themselves and escape from a past that continues to haunt them. An original, quirky film that is difficult to categorize - black comedy? Suspense thriller?

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Hartley Ever
This is my favorite Hal Hartley film, several of the scenes do not fail to bring a tear to my eye or give me a feeling of frisson and I saw it for the first time in 1995.I think that should say it all.Read more

This is one to get. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Wet RULES!!

Not erotic "spank" material to be sure, but it kept me interested, and I found it intriguing, erotic to a degree, and I was dissappointed when that segment finished. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars A B Movie At Its Most Boring....
Like another reviewer said, let's face facts, a lot of vampire films are either dull, weird, or downright dumb. Dull and a little stupidity makes this vampire film what it is.
    1-0 out of 5 stars Homogenized & fang-free -- not undead but certainly un-fun
It's not scary, it's not sexy, it's not bloody, it's not intriguing. It's almost always daytime and it's not even worth the 84 min runtime.
3-0 out of 5 stars Pretty Good as vampire movies go
Let's face it, if you're a fan of the genre, you know that most vampire movies suck (no pun intended). This one doesn't.It's actually pretty good, especially if you like a view that's sympathetic to the vampires. The vampires in this movie are a subspecies of humans, with their own society and laws.Sounds sort of like Kindred, The Embraced, doesn't it?It even has the stylish old-world vampires at odds with the younger, rebel vampires. It also has the beautiful blonde human reporter who's in love with one of the vampires. The movie has some good twists, attractive women, cool settings...and it's entertaining. ...

If you can get past the cursing, it's well worth it.Will Smith and Martin Lawrence are almost too much fun as cop partners who go deep undercover to recover stolen police evidence (drugs).Tea Leoni is also hilarious in the film and serves as a great counterpoint to the cocky buddy cops. ...
